Default Ammonite coupe with black pack? (yes, a "Help me choose" thread)

Really having trouble with color selection. Have only seen Polaris and ultimate black in person because that's all the local dealer keeps ordering.

As the owner of a black car, I have resolved to never own another black car. Looks dirty all the time (snow and salt on the roads for 3.5-4 months every year, and if it's not snowing it's raining multiple times per week), and shows a crapload of swirls.

I tend to wash my car every 1-2 months (I am the type of person who would hand-wash a car weekly, but simply don't have the time, and my wife would probably kill me). I hand wash most times, but in the winter I simply have to cave for the automatic once or twice to get the salt off and not freeze my ***** off (I've also never figured out how people who hand wash get salt off the underbody).

My three favorite colors right now are Polaris, IRR, and ammonite. I threw in the last one because I was thinking the gray might do a decent job of not looking filthy. I've never had a white or red car, so the maintenance necessary to keep those colors looking good is unknown to me. Rumor has it that white is pretty low maintenance.

Poked around on the internet and can't definitively find an ammonite coupe with black pack to see what that looks like. Some listings say ammonite, but the car pictured is clearly a 2015.

Pictures to help, or thoughts on any of the above?

Thanks!

I don't recommend IRR for you if you're going to wash it every two months. I feel like it needs to be washed biweekly at least.
Honestly, I start hating myself, my car, and the world, if I don't wash it weekly. It still looks nice dirty. I think it looks better dirty than most other colors when they're clean, but the difference between IRR when dirty and IRR when clean is staggering.
Just my opinion.

One thing I'll say about Ammonite is that scientific studies have suggested it to be faster than the other color offerings. But, don't let that influence your decision.

here is my car in lunar grey without the black pack for a comparison to Whirlinturbin's car . Lunar is similar in color depending on lighting conditions.

Thanks everyone. Good stuff. For the folks with gray, how well does it hide the dirt?

I think I've owned something in just about every color of the rainbow. The only color that camouflages dirt well is bright silver.

Lunar Grey does fairly well at hiding some dirt but not as good as a silver car. My car is parked outside and it never really looks dirty, but I also typically give it a quick wash at the house once a week.

The '05 is Silver. In rainy Washington it will go a month without washing and still looks good. And people don't even write 'Wash Me' in the back window. I do wash the tires once a week if they need it. They show dirt long before the body.
The black S600 needed washing before I finished washing it.

Silver is most definitively the colour to go for if you want to hide the dirt - black and white are probably the worst
Black shows dust and swirls easily
white shows mud, tar spatts, bugs etc etc very quickly

+1

I think you should focus on how to rinse off your car with a power washer and a coat of Rejex or another polymer film that will enable your car to rinse clean quickly. It takes me 15 minutes to do a rinse job. Go for a 80 mph drive and force-dry her.

Get the color you want. Never select a color based on dirt hiding. This is a sports car.

If you don't like white (I think the sexiest color for the F), look for the special edition blue. I saw one in person with the brown interior and it was shockingly sexy. There were literally a crowd of employees and patrons surrounding this one car as they revealed it the day i happened to be at the dealer. It got all the attention among rows and rows of F's. People who know Jags appreciate the rarity of this color but coupled along with the rich milk chocolate brown or white leather interior....Yum!

Oh - white leather interior to a dirt freak....wont work.

you can only get that blue on the SVR, but I do like it.

also this thread is a year old, and I own an Italian Racing Red F-Type that looks dirty all the time but I still love it. Easy to wash with CQuartz Finest coating.

I haven't seen an F in any color I didn't like .
Drive it fast enough and blow the dirt off.

After 4+ years from the initial post, the OP is on his 2nd f-type. He ended up with IRR for the first one, should you care.

contrary to what everyone is saying about white, my glacier/yulong white hides dirt really well.

I agree. White and silver hide dirt the best. Red is Ok. Sparkly dark colours are better at hiding dirt/dust than solid.

Old threads are like fire pit embers. They can flare up and cause fire storms at any time.
