Question Any way to add Jaguar InControl Remote to earlier models

So I have a 15' R and wished it was outfitted with the Jaguar InControl Remote. I would love to have the ability to remote start my car and all the features of the software.

Any possible way this can be retrofitted to earlier models?

I haven't heard of anybody doing this, but would love to know as well...looks like the apps are getting better and I'd be interested if it was reasonably priced.

Someone from Canada inquired with their dealer and it was stated that the required equipment could only be installed at the factory, so it was not possible to retrofit and upgrade.

I think the 2015 InControl is different than the 2016 InControl, specifically the InControl Remote (was not available with 2015's). So, even a 2015 with InControl would not support the InControl Remote function.

At least that's what I have heard... I could be wrong...

2016s have different hardware than 2015s. The new system is similar to OnStar in that there is a cellular connection built into the car that communicates back to Jaguar and sends/receives data needed to enable remote starting and other features like Journey tracking. The cellular connection is also used to place a call when you press the SOS button.

Slightly off topic but I removed the overhead console on my car a few weeks ago to hardwire my radar detector and noticed there is an unused CANBUS connector in the roof that was not present on my 2015. The copper wiring is also different between the two cars so it's not a simple plug-and-play swap for the overhead console where the SOS button is located.

Me too. But this will be very expensive - new head unit, harnesses. new overhead console.

Default Another interested in upgrading

I too am interested in an inControl retrofit, and this wouldn't be the first "can only be done by the factory" retrofit I would have pulled off. Is anyone on the inside to find out how many parts need to be swapped?
