Is there such an e type model as a 1974 S3 cabrio V12 fuel injected?,i have schematics for all the Etype models but haven't seen a fuel injected one.....could the fuel injected motor be an after market fit or engine swap from a sedan/coupe?, any info & links would be a help, thanks...Tom

 

Hello Tom,
The S3 was always intended to have Fuel Injection, but an issue with the supplier of the intended system at the death knock of the launch resulted in Stromberg Carburetors being cobbled on at the last minute.

Fuel Injection is quite an easy modification to make on an S3 E Type due to the parts from an XJS being a direct fit. Check the Engine Number of the current engine to determine if its the original engine that's had the Fuel Injection fitted later, or if it may be an engine complete with FI from an XJS. If its a HE model XJS V12 engine, the fuel consumption will be way better than would be achieved with the original V12 engine.

Thanks for the response, as suspected i thought it may have been an after market setup, i reproduce the wiring schematics in colour etc and had a request for such item, good thing i didn't scratch my head too much over this, might have got a bald patch.........tom
