Anyone here?
Yep, I've heard of three......two with no known cause and one that was either due to running low on oil or a bad tune (depending who you want to listen to - I'm not going there!)

I'm hoping they can tell me what the cause was, I would like to avoid it in the future. Only thing mentioned to me was maybe inpropper break in or just an unlucky game of odds. It was babied until 5k at the first service interval so I can rule out break in, I guess it could be just an unlucky part in the manufacturing process when they are mass producing anything. So far Jaguar has been great to deal with and is putting me in a loner for the duration of the repair. If it's only 3 so far I'm ok with those odds compared to the number sold, but most of the SC AJ133 engines are just now starting to see milage I would think.
They've been making these engines since 2010 so they are seven years old now; there should be plenty of vehicles that have higher mileage. A quick search found a 2010 Range Rover Sport for sale in my town with 180,000 kms on it.

LOL; the years of these cars is all messed up: in N.A. the first F type is a 2014, in the UK and Europe it's a 2013.....no idea about Australia.
Anyhow, the upshot is that they've been used for a long time; I'm sure there are many at 200k+

No, because I expect to need my warranty with the way I use the car. I even avoided benign mods, like installing a short shifter, for this reason.
Without any reported problems, other than water pump leaking and supercharger rattle. XKR are all around reliable cars and F-type is pretty much has the same mechanical setup just in a different chassis.
Pretty sure the European problem was with the early AJ126SC (ie 2013 - 2014 V6) motors.
No, I wasn't talking about model year (where NAS is almost always one year ahead of ROW), I was talking about calendar year. The Technical Training PDF for the AJ133 is dated 14 April 2009.
regardless of exactly which month or model year we want to talk about, they've been out for long enough to have some serious miles on them......we don't need to split hairs on exactly how long it's been IMO.

C7 Z06 is a mechanical marvel, it drives and handles better than most supercars. Given equal driver's skill, there is nothing you can do in F-type to keep up with one on the track.
This said, with C7 interior is cheap and you are driving a middle class mid life crisis on four wheels. If I had room for a dedicated track car, it would be C7. Daily driving? No thanks.

I have both a 2016 F Type R and a 2017 C7 Z06. The Z06 is a very competent daily driver and road trip car. I will give you a nod on the cheap interior compared to the Jag. No idea what Chevrolet was thinking with the floor carpet. I never understood the mid-life crisis tag on Corvette owners. I bought my first at age 26 and have owned at least one, sometimes two at a time since. I am now 59.
....but be that as it may, I think it's a great car....especially at the price point. It's both better and worse than the F type depending on your particular set of criteria. I've always tried to appreciate things for what they are, not what light society casts them in. I bought a Harley despite the image, not because of it and I'd consider the 'vette in the same light.

Dave
