If you want a Corvette, and want to be part of the herd, ie, see yourself every time you turn the corner, or drive down the block, that is fine, join the " Corvette Revolution". I was part of it for 21 years. Looked at replacing my '79 with a 2017 GS until I realized that every 6-10th car on the road was a 'Vette. While I don't want to be just 'one of a kind'. I don't want to see myself every time I turn a corner. Also, I don't want every "Smokey" in the state watching me if I happen to punch the throttle a bit over the 45 mph speed limit (65-75?). My F-Type fits the bill to a T("F").
I quietly drive by all those old grey haired corvette owners with their bald heads shining in the sun, as I smile and watch the local constabulatories write the speeding tickets......
Yea, I know, pretty sick, but I am getting pretty curmudgeonly in my old age....

C7 Z06 is a mechanical marvel, it drives and handles better than most supercars. Given equal driver's skill, there is nothing you can do in F-type to keep up with one on the track.

This said, with C7 interior is cheap and you are driving a middle class mid life crisis on four wheels. If I had room for a dedicated track car, it would be C7. Daily driving? No thanks.

SamtheSham & SinF - RawwR is asking if the "blown lower end" in this guys 2016 F-Type R was anyone's here. He's not speculating on the viability of a Corvette

Interested to hear that story on why the bottom end blew out (supposedly). Only the 2nd such case I've heard other than JVIII's.

Exactly ndabunka, wow talk about reading comprehension fail. FYI SamtheSham this is my 2nd F Type R. LOL every 6th to 10th car a vette? Talk about exaggeration, btw I'm in south florida so I'm sure.

Maybe they used the same performance shop to tune their cars?

Random failures are obviously a distinct possibility, however in your case preponderance of evidence points toward bad tune causing catastrophic engine failure.

If there is an issue with Jaguar AJ engines, it hasn't shown up elsewhere in F-type and other JLR cars that use this engine.

Much better to be technical than be a bull right?

Time will tell, maybe in 5 years this will be known as JVIII issue and there will be a class action from owners with a bunch of blown engines. However, as of 10/11/2017 there is not enough evidence to suggest this is the case.

I see this argument come up a lot here. What did I miss? (i'm not asking to rehash it, just maybe a link to the 'big discussion' haha). As someone completely out of the loop, I would be wondering 1) how many engines have failed, and 2) how many of those failures were tuned. Just for coorelation purposes, not to assign blame. That's just my thinking and would not be a thorough statistical analysis, given that not every F-type owner is represented here.

I suspect that the problem was more likely due to not checking oil level before the car was put on a dyno. Empirically, based on this forum, one can deduce that there is no low oil alarm. People here have experienced low oil levels, but there’s never been a report that an alarm was triggered.

mine "failed" not sure of the cause...
no low oil, no tune, no pulley, no CEL, ran fine...Jag is replacing it under warranty but now im worried to even drive it after i get it back. Only 26k i drive my tacoma 10x harder no issues. still trying to find the highest mileage SC AJ133 on here for a piece of mind before i park it and hope its worth something in 50 years. Other then JVIII's engine...any one else?

The challenge is that if an engine fails under warranty, JLR isn't at all forthcoming about what failed or why they're replacing it. I recall maybe 3-4 engine replacements reported here, but generally no details.

I'm waiting for someone to comment that maybe you used the same tune as me.

Where the keyboard warriors at?
