Default Back lighting for console switches?

I tried to figure this out on my new to me 2015 R but no luck:

The console switches (AC, front and rear defrost, etc) are dark when the headlights are on but lit when the headlights are off. I can't see what's what when it's dark out. I tried the dash dimmer and the manual was no help.

Surely this is something simple I'm missing...

Headlights on

Headlights off

Dive into the menu to see if the stupidly-named ‘stealth mode’ is enabled. This turns off many of the interior lights at night.

Stealth mode is off. I looked around again but still can't find a way to change get lighting there.

Did you have the lights on when you tried adjusting the dimmer?

Thanks for that link. I believe the lights were on auto when i tried the dimmer. Like that thread says, the response was slow and not a wide range of dimming. I'll try some more combinations.

I had a look and the panel displays light blue when headlights on and bright white when headlights are off (ie daytime) . It looks like the blue led /light in your panel is no longer operational. Changing the dimmer makes the blue light brighter or dimmer but doesn’t affect the full brightness white light. It never dims to zero or full black like your panel shows. The panel is very easy to remove and replace with maybe a secondhand one. No idea if the blue led/light is serviceable/replaceable or not

Thanks Borbor! That makes sense. Looks like I'll be searching for the part now.
