Default Expected behavior of the interior light brightness knob?

The knob that adjusts the interior light brightness, is it supposed to control the brightness of the speedo & tach dial lights as well? Mine only adjusts the LCD screens (the main infotainment display and the in-dash LCD between the dials) and other misc cabin lights (AC controls, etc.) but not the speedo/tach lights.

I'm wondering what the expected behavior is, as my speedo is very dim during the day, and cannot be adjusted. It's been on my to-fix list before warranty runs out, assuming that's not how it should be.

I just checked/tested my dimmer operation.
1. The dimmer only works with a) at least the ignition on and b) with at least parkers on (also works with headlights on).
2. Once those two conditions are met ALL the screen and dial lights dim/brighten, including speedo and tacho.
So if you meet those conditions and your speedo & tacho stay dim while the screens go bright then you have a problem.

Edit - just thought of another possible cause - maybe you have it in Stealth Mode?
Never tried it myself and I could be barking up the wrong tree completely, but worth checking!

Thanks for testing that out @OzXFR . I'm still not quite sure if what I'm seeing in my car is correct. When I adjust with the knob, with the lights on (NOT set to auto) it *seems* to adjust. Seems to, because the response isn't direct but kind of laggy, and this is true for all the controlled interior lights, not just the dial lights. When set to auto, which is what I usually have it on, the knob doesn't seem to do anything. I need to do some more testing; I think the auto setting, which is what I leave it on, is confusing matters.

I've noticed the lag as well....when you adjust the dimmer knob the brightness changes slowly. (Kind of like the volume/loudness controls on modern sound systems.)

I never noticed the other things that were questioned, which is why I never answered earlier.

Just like the way the lights operate when you open or close a door?

I've not taken note of that. But oh yeah, they DO come up to brightness gradually.

I've never had a car that was slow to react to a dimmer wheel control before...but I AM used to counting to '3-Mississippi' when using the F's touch screen controls...it is something you get used to!

I'd guess it's a digital control rather than a straight (well, circular!) rheostat.
