Default Best leather cleaner and cream

What are you guys using for cleaning and protecting the leather seats in your FType? I've just been using the Chemical Guys Interior cleaner on them and wondering if I need to treat them to some leather cream. Any recommendations?

I have been looking at products from Jay Leno's Garage site. Wonder if anyone has tried any of those car care products?

Gliptone leather cleaner and conditioner gets my vote every time. Being using it for years, and love the smell you get afterwards :-)

What do you guys that have the stock seats with the "seude cloth" use to clean. I have the light interior and need to keep up. Have just been using a damp cloth, its time to use some cleaner.

I've used a few products over the years. I'm currently using Mothers for a variety of products (wax, leather cleaner/conditioner, race rubber remover, etc).

Only one product you should be using.

Leatherique cleaner and rejuvenator.

If it is good enough for Rolls Royce, then its good enough for me.

I think I read somewhere that Jaguar puts some sort of coat on the leather to protect it, so whatever you're applying doesn't actually get to the leather. Anyone have a definitive answer on this one?

Correct.

All modern car leathers are essentially painted and have a top coat. They are somewhat porous however, which is why a "conditioner" doesn't really do much unless it's essentially allowed to penetrate over time. Wiping on and wiping off a few seconds later doesn't do much in terms of "conditioning" which is why Leatherique's oil is so effective. You essentially park your car outside on a hot day with the windows up, and allow the pores of the leather to open which in turn allows the oil to not only penetrate the top coat, but also loosen up embedded dirt which you then wipe away with the cleaner.

I'm still using Connolly Hide Care. (Our other 1980s exotic has uncoated Connolly leather, so the product was already in the cupboard in my garage.)

Applied the same way as Leatherique recommends (coat clean surfaces with Hide Food, then let sit for 24+ hours before buffing) it DOES penetrate and soften the coated leather. Leatherique is great stuff, but expensive.

++++++++++++++++

Who has a fix for the color on the seam welting rubbing off? Even though I position the seat all the way back and put my hand on the bolster, ours needed some touch up coloring already. And, I've noticed other Fs have this issue, too. (You gotta look close to notice it, though.)

This was recommended to me. Have not tried it yet.

Been using the "On Sale" brand at Walmart for years.
Seems like regular frequency applications with decent quality products are more important...

This is true on brand new seats. Then you start using them and this protective coat no longer covers 100%.

I have white seats, this allows me to see where conditioner is absorbed as it slightly changes hue while it is still wet. After few years of suffering my 200lb+ butt, the seat now have few spots where conditioner does absorb. Especially noticeable side bolsters on both seat cushion and back.

Not just Jaguar, all manufacturers. Its a flexible clearcoat that lasts the life of the car.
If they did not make it impervious to oils, lotions, salts, what you see in the pics below would happen. The images below are from a mistake Ford made of not coating the leather, actually using saddle leather.
You can see what happens when leather is capable of absorbing. Its disastrous in a car environment, where people sweat, and only in the areas of perspiration, so its not uniform.

You need to protect the clearcoat and not the leather. In fact, the only damage you will see these days in leather is where the clearcoat has been compromised, such as bolsters, the first to go.

Abrasion resistance is what you are after.

Nothing has the ability to penetrate the clearcoat, if it did, it will lift the clearcoat.
Some say that certain products can weaken the clearcoat.

I was surprised to discover that there is only one company in the business that actually has a R&D facility. Yep the others are just guessing.
Dr. Tork & UNITERS Research Center

p.s. not wearing denim goes a very long way to protecting leather.

Dude....
Leathermasters is incredible, see my link above.
Leatherique, I used for 15 years, its garbage on modern leathers. They dont have a clue. I too believed them hook line and sinker, despite obvious logic that nothing could be absorbed. My seats in the suv were ruined. The 3rd row, which never got treated or used, still new.
There is a reason its not sold everywhere and comes with a hand stuck on label.

From everything I’m reading, including the leather care instructions that came with my new 2020 Ram Limited, the only thing one should use is a soft cloth with warm water.
I know you guys will say the leather in a Ram pickup isn’t the same as a Jaguar, and you’re right. It’s actually nicer than the leather in my 2018 F Type. My wife’s Cadillac came with the same cleaning instructions. Soft cloth, warm water.
It’s the new coated leathers. Older vehicles may be different.

Here is a top tip that will take you years to discover.

The Jaguar protectant is made by Uniters.

There was a study done in UK's leather industry...abrasion protection dramatically increased life of leather.

I know this was true when you had the top of the line Jag with air-conditioned seats.
