Bonnet panel gap
Hi all Frank here, my 16 s coupe. Does anyone on the forum have an acceptable or factory gap measurement. I’ve adjusted my bonnet and it’s looks good by my eye. Just curious as to what forum members consider good panel gap. Your options are greatly appreciated.

ps. Yes I look back at my jag when parked in public, a drop dead gorgeous Jaguar. IMHO I believe these F types are one of the most beautiful cars produced PERIOD!

If you are talking about the front shut line of the bonnet (hood) where it meets the front bumper then I reckon about 4 mm is correct.
Mine was a long way out on the LHS with a gap of around 8 mm while it was 4 mm on the RHS, and as a result it looked awful.
I loosened off the three bumper mounting bolts on the LHS and pushed that side of the bumper back towards the hood until the gap was an even 4 mm all the way across, then I tightened those bolts back up again and it has never moved since.
I had to push quite hard to get it to go back to a 4 mm gap and I had to hold it with all my might while doing up the first bolt to stop it springing back out again.
For that reason and other alignment reasons I don't think it would be a good idea to try to go for a gap smaller than 4 mm.

Frank here, thank you all for your response to my question. This information was greatly appreciated. I checked my gaps and they are uniformly less than 1mm on the + side off the official measurements. I rely on all the members on this forum for information and humorous comments. Again thanks to all!
