Bonnet Sensor Location
Hello all,
My “bonnet open” alert has been on throughout the evening despite the fact that I have closed it every recommended way that I’ve found both throughout these threads and on Youtube videos. As a result, I cannot lock my doors and the dealership near me’s service department is closed for the weekend.
I am a bit of a novice when it comes to self-service work so I apologize in advance, but I would love a bit of help in possibly locating the bonnet sensor on an F-Type MY17 and the best way to bypass this sensor until my service department is open. Love to be able to lock my car, of course. Thank you in advance.

LATCHES
HOOD LATCHES
Two hood latches are located on the inside of the front fenders, in the rear corners of the engine compartment. The latches are operated by cables connected to a hood release lever located below the instrument panel on the left A pillar.A hood switch is attached to the left hood latch and connected to the CJB.

Here's a Topic with most (if not all) of the nuances regards adjusting the bonnet (hood) latches. Post 11 is of particular note.

I have not heard of a misaligned latch on these cars that will cause the sensor to show open. I suspect the switch itself is bad and perhaps removing the connector and shorting the 2 leads together will fool the CJB into thinking the hood is closed.
I had this same issue last year when I went over a raised bump on the road.. The sensor/switch is on the left latch. There is a small piece of bendable aluminum/metal that pushes down on the switch when it is closed. After analyzing how it worked I bent this piece of metal towards the hood/bonnet latch so when it closed it would have enough travel room to actually make contact with the switch. I guess that when I hit the bump on the road the piece of metal got flexed by the latch more than it was supposed to and was too "open" to make enough contact pressure with the switch.
After I did the above I haven't had an issue since and did not have to take it to the dealer.

Thank you so much for the feedback. I just dropped it off at the dealer this morning, after using some of the suggestions here to no avail. I suspect the left latch suggestion may end up being the culprit since I already dropped it off by the time I saw that response. I’ll update once I have answers.
Hello all, so the conclusion was that the hood switch wasn’t getting enough pressure to relay the message to the car that the bonnet was closed; they replaced the latch and the problem thus far has went away. Thanks again for your help.
