The switch is part of the latch and is separately replaceable. Part C2D27159. Common failure item actually. I got mine from the dealer.

A paper clip in the connector of both of mine solved the issue for me.
The location is on the drivers side hood latch, an easy replacement, or bypass.

In your case it'll be the switch as others have suggested. I kept getting the 'bonnet open' red light warning when driving along. When I inspected the bonnet it was actually open, only a little, but it was open. I released the bonnet and found that it would not shut without really slamming it down. When it eventually engaged it would ping slightly open again once I was driving. I greased up the latches and that solved the problem. The latches seem to seize up and will eventually start to release the bonnet when driving or going over bumps.

I hope you get it sorted.

Thanks,

Chris

The problem is supposed to be caused by oil from the lock mechanism working its way down into the innards of the switch and getting on the contacts. Jag's solution is, allegedly, 'don't oil the lock mechanism'

I shorted mine out with a bit of aluminium foil from a Kit-Kat bar.

Spraying the contact points, with a contact type cleaner, might solve the issue.
Worth a try if you have a can setting around.
Many of us do for some reason.
