It was a response to Rivguy... GM sells quite a few 2 seaters, they're called Corvettes
True, and 2 seaters will always be limited sellers because of the "impractical factor." GM builds and sells 35K Corvettes per year, worldwide and is the sales leader.
Even the popular Mazda MX-5 (Miata) sold only 14K in it's best year (2002), and only 8K last year.

Oh.. I thought Rivguy was specifically referring to GM building a two seater Buick. As he said...won't happen. Cadillac's, Pontiac's and Saturn's foray into 2 seaters did not last long. Why would GM expect Buick to be any more successful.

The concept was designed on the relatively new, lightweight Alpha platform that was first used exclusively for the Cadillac ATS, to challenge the BMW 3-series. The Alpha platform is also used in the all-new '16 Camaro, which is smaller and 400 lbs. lighter than the out-going version, which used an elderly, heavier chassis. The heaviest version is also about 400 lbs lighter than an F-Type R, with models varying between 3300 to 3600 lbs. The new Camaro was just named "2016 Motor Trend Car of the Year."
I wonder if the Avista will end up like the Elmiraj. This car really made the rounds. It appeared more production-ready than the Avista, yet never came to fruition.... what a shame. It's so much nicer than anything Cadillac is currently offering.
I’ve been intrigued by the possibility of a Buick sport coupe since the 60s/70s Riviera, but they’ve consistently dropped the ball since. The first return of the Riviera and the Reata were both horrible jokes, and the last Riviera was a pig. The Avista does look good in its morphed photo (lower and wider than real), but GM & Buick will probably miss the mark again. The Regal RS is decent for what it’s supposed to be, but it’s no Stage III GS that’s for sure. I’m sure we’d all prefer an Audi S5 instead of an Avista.

At least visibility looks as if it would be improved over the Camaro. It is horrible. My first thought when sitting in a Camaro, was that someone from Chrysler was involved in its design. It seems as if all these guys think we drive by Braille. Hard to believe that my XKR coupe had better views in all directions.
