Default Buying Dealer Loaner Car - Good Idea

I'm considering purchasing the dealer's loaner 2016 F-Type. Car has 9800 miles. The MSRP is $79.8 and the sales price is $71.0.

The dealer has a very strong reputation in the area so I'm not concerned about the quality, just whether the value seems reasonable or not.

i personally have no issues with it if the price is right. that price is way too high.

Thanks for the thought on pricing, this is where I wasn't sure. What would be a reasonable % off the MSRP?

there are used 2016s listed on cars.com for under 70k, even if this hasn't been titled, that's what the dealer is competing against. i would be shooting for 64k with a CPO warranty.

Agree with other posters - way too high for a demo car with almost 10k miles. Should be able to get a new car for that sort of money.

That Car must have been loaned out to a lot of People who live quite far from the Dealership.

Have you compared it to the price you can get a new one for?

Speaking for everyone who ever test-drove one of these cars, one could argue that I tried to destroy it during our brief time together. You should consider that as well. (which is not to say that any other used car couldn't have been abused the same way during its lifetime).

I've compared with some others that have the 19" wheels, full leather and the other premium add-ons and so it didn't seem outrageous, but when you consider the mileage then maybe it starts to look too high.

This. Mine wasn't a demo, but I bought it a year old with under 10k miles. Arguably, it was a safer bet, since the original owner had to worry about resale, whereas a demo get driven every day to see what it can do.

Anyway, mine had an original sticker of $89k; my price was $65.2 (Plus T&T)

This has been awesome help. I ended up talking with the dealer but was unable to reach a lower price on the demo. He actually admitted that they had overpriced the car and that it too many miles which certainly lowered it's value on KBB.

That being said I did have a backup option that we did reach an agreement - a new 2016 base model, fully loaded that will be transferred from a Philadelphia dealer once we finish all the paperwork tomorrow. I'm looking forward to joining the club.

I really appreciate everyone's input - first post and it was very helpful.

I agree, a new one is a much better option over the used one which has seen a lot of miles and even worse, Drivers apparently.

I know you'll enjoy it, the base is a really great Car, I've only driven ours a handful of times, my Wife has put 3500 miles on it in the last six months and minus one minor cosmetic issue which was taken care of, it's been flawless.

Enjoy!

Congrats and enjoy! What kind of deal were you able to strike on the '16 base?
