Buying the F
Hello all,
After several failed attempts to find the right F-type, I contacted a friend who is in the business and he has located through the main dealer aV6 in BRG (my favourite colour). I'll be viewing the car in a few days and intend to take it for a pre-purchase inspection at the main dealer.
Are there any other checks I should be performing on the car to ensure I don't get a lemon? Which OBD2 brand should I buy for the F?
Thank you all for your help.

I think probably the main issue to look out for is the Y pipe coolant leaks - if it is a plastic part with seams, you should upgrade to the revised part at least, possibly metal to avoid issues. Also check the rear diff as those have been known to sometimes have issues.
I bought this code reader (https://a.co/d/cMufeOd) which can read some of the jag specific data, also seems to shut down properly so it doesnt trigger the battery drain issue.
Good luck! It's a great car, esp if you get a well kept one

Thank you, for the very valuable advice. I guess the Y pipe is the one under the supercharger, and difficult to get to, but if there is a leak it will show on the floor.

As for the ODBII device, be VERY CAREFULL when hooking up anything to the odbii connection. If you don't close the session correctly, you will keep the car in a live mode that will drain the battery in less than a week.
You didn’t mention the year. And that will make a difference as most issues from earlier years have been addressed and later years have their own. The dreaded y-pipe for instance. Also sticky buttons. Then there’s the LED headlights. Or the…. What year, please.
from there you can use the search for common issues and read to your hearts content.
