Caliper paint wearing off
I'm not sure, but I think my car's calipers may have originally been silver, as the red on the rear calipers are wearing down. Has anyone else with original red calipers had a problem with the paint wearing down or flaking off? Wanted to figure out if the red is original paint, and if it is, what would be a good paint match for touching it up. In the case it isn't original, I might just get some G2 epoxy and go ham on it.
My red rear calipers were faded and had embedded brake dust in them on the top(not face) I used a rattle can caliper high heat red, sprayed the paint into a cup and used a small paint brush to apply the paint after cleaning the area the best so could. The paint matched so close I couldn’t tell I painted them, then had them ceramic coated. Look like new and now rinse clean with the hose.
I had a sneaky feeling the previous owner painted over the silver. According to the pics I've seen around the web, the front caliper is supposed to be stenciled with the Jaguar logo, which mine was missing. I ended up taking it to a shop and went to town with it.
My black calipers have faded, dealer claims that calipers are only under warranty if they fail??
