Can an engine tune possibly damage the tranny and differential

Everybody does that now. BMW, Mercedes, etc all have these nutty recommended oil change intervals. It's terrible IMO because the service lights are set that way, so folks who don't know better use those intervals. I think most cars would benefit from shorter intervals but likely most cars survive ok until they are long out of warranty. Complex and high performance motors that are driven hard usually are much less tolerant - smaller clearances, more heat, more potential for oil dilution in some cases.
