Default Car darting/unstable in rain

Greetings all,

Was driving to Nashville last night and unfortunately hit some inclement weather on the way there. While on the highway I drove over what looked to be standing water but in retrospect may have been a nasty pothole filled with water to make it look like a simple puddle. Right as I hit it I hydroplaned violently and had to catch the car (a little unnerving at 75 mph) which was red flag #1. As soon as I caught the car and got my bearings, it all of a sudden became unstable and was darting all over the lane. I thought it was the lane departure system going awry but I turned it off and the problem persisted. Tire pressure was and remains stable, no visible damage from my rudimentary eyeball inspection of the tires, but I went out for breakfast this morning and the same symptoms arose as soon as I got up to speed. My initial assumption is my alignment got thrown way off but the severity of the symptoms have me thinking it could be something worse.

Clearly something is amiss, any ideas as to what it could be from the group?

Thanks in advance for the help everyone.

Could be anything - get it up on a lift an gone over ASAP. Could be just alignment, or any type suspension/mount damage, or could be even internal tire damage - all not great things if you're driving it around.

Dealership couldn’t fit me in so after calling around I managed to get into a Firestone for an alignment and some new rears. Gotta love Tennessee potholes….but with most things, as long as you throw money at the problem it’ll be fixed. I’m thankful no suspension parts were damaged.

Best case scenario! No serious damage, no jacked up dealer fees, new alignment (should check periodically anyways), and new tires!

Agree roads are getting worse everywhere. Up here in CT bad enough, NY is worse. And the construction - they leave huge ruts/bumps on 65mph interstates up here that literally leave you thinking you've damaged your car. Thank God Jag engineered these cars to withstand nasty roads (within reason).

Harry Metcalfe (of Harry's Garage YouTube channel) says that Jaguar wheels have to be as robust as those on Land Rovers, so they should be tough!
