ground loop isolator is only going to get rid of a constant background him. Doesn’t happen to every installation so if no hum adding it won’t improve anything. If you do have a hum it works magic. Given it is $10 best to get it added for all installs regardless.
I had another thought about your problem. Are you sure you have plugged to stereo mini jack from the microphone in all the way into the module. If you have only plugged it in half way it will only work on a single channel And will be at 50% or single Chanel only so quieter.
Yeah for $10 I will definitely keep it there. Im reinstalling right now will check your guess!
What would be the cost for professional installation of the UAD unit (or competing product)?
It would help if you put details of your car in the tag line.
If you have a coupé with a Harman Kardon head unit then it’s an easy job to do yourself in a few minutes.
If it is a coupé then pull off the cover between the back of the seats. Look down and if it says Harman Kardon then you’re in luck.

Thanks. I haven’t bought the car yet but it will probably be a 2017 or 2018 F-type R - I don’t know if I will buy a coupe or convertible.
Wow. You should have watched one if the multiple installation videos a few more times. Well documented that you have to undo the locking pins first but you can only get to them by rotating the Fakra wire 90 deg to expose the latch. Once unlatched should be no more effort than plugging or unplugging a USB cable into a charger for instance.
In any case they are pretty robust. You can realign the locking tab inside the fakra body with a small screw drive and wiggling if you have damaged them by removing without unlocking. Much better to reinstall with them locked but ultimately if you can’t they really are no going to go anywhere.

Trust me I watched more than a few times haha. Those are the only connectors giving me problem, I tried reinstalling without disconnecting them at first, didn't work so I had to try and try and try, finally broke them free with a flathead, I didn't even realize I took the base out all together..
Anyways, what exactly do they do? Everything is still working, it even worked when I had the color wrong.
So just to sum it up, I reinstalled the mic with a new one, made sure it was clicked in all the way, the final result is still less than ideal. Its a tiny bit better in picking up sound compared to the one included in the kit, but miles behind the factory mic, a lot of background noise gets picked up even when im driving at 7mph in flat road.
Now the question is, is there a way to wire the factory mic to the kit? or do you think this is limitation on the software side, like factory mic has noise reduce support with software?
This is driving me nuts, aside from this issue, and occational inability to connect wirelessly(easily fixed by plugging in the cable or wait), this kit is perfect.
Also, anyone knows what these connections do? im pretty sure they have rattled their way out but everything still works.
Sorry Ray but I think you are probably the last person to be splicing in wiring looms given what has transpired so far. Give up on using the factory mic.
You can try updating your unit to the latest firmware or try adjusting the call quality using the call quality test option under settings in the unit. I do not know what effect adjusting the level either up or down does as my mic performs perfectly so you will have to try it out. My setting for this is the default of zero.

Yeah I think i should not touch it anymore haha, I will open up it again to to apply some tape/glue to those connectors, I think they are loose now and rattling a bit. Calling is a bit better now, most people I talked to on the phone said they can hear me, but the volume could be louder.
Question for the group: I want to install the Unique Auto Developments unit into a 2018 or 2019 F-Type R. How long would it take a professional car audio specialist to complete this work? Would I lose blind spot assist and/or any other feature after installation? I know that I’d lose the native navigation system. Thanks in advance!
Long press on the home button switches between original screen and UAD. All original features are maintained.
As I replied in your earlier post, if it’s a coupé and Harman Kardon head unit then you can easily install the UAD unit yourself in a few minutes.

Thanks, but I don’t trust myself to do a proper job! A few minutes should translate to an hour of labo(u)r.

This video shows how to do it if HK and coupé, it’s what made me realise that I could have this system. The pink plug is tricky but it’s the only hard bit. I used a cut small bolt and taped it to my finger to hit the release catch. Other than that it’s very straightforward.
This one from Paul Calvert of this parish and the others in his series show it also.Paul’s is more involved because he has other bits to do at the same time. The top video shows how simple it is.

If they are familiar with it, 30 minutes, first time 1.5hours estimate. Even a dummy like me can do it in 45minutes now, except those 3 damn farka connections anyways..
It's not a perfect system, but the cons are few and the pros are many. Main things you lose that's important:
1) steering wheel buttons no longer work(answer phone call and foward previous track) volume and everything else still work. There is a work around to this by keep your phone connected to the car via bluetooth, but it also comes with the drawback of no navigation sound from carplay and necessity of choosing audio source manually every time.
2) does not use factory mic, call quality is acceptable now, but way inferior to oem quality.
Other than that, you also lose factory nav, which is pretty much useless. Another minor con is it is not as fast and smooth as oem carplay, wired or wireless.
So where's the pro? Well, having carplay itself is already enough, not to mention it supports wireless(even my friends with factory wired carplay are jealous!), and screen mirroring, android support etc.
I still have all the factory settings including Nav. Maybe it’s because I have HK system.
Must be your HK system, I remeber one of my nav connector was not used per instruction. How is your touch responsiveness and scrolling smoothness? I find mine laggy scrolling, and touch point some times don't register, plus a bit misaligned(type letter C on the keyboard often results in a Spcae). Not sure if it the system or the screen's fault.
A Jaguar dealer told me that Apple CarPlay can be added to the OEM infotainment system of an F-Type (at least the 2018 models) by a simple dealership performed by the dealer for U.S. $300. I don’t know if this works for other model years.
I just purchased a 2019 F-Type R with Apple CarPlay compatibility.
