Hope everyone is enjoying their Labor Day weekend.
Cel came up yesterday alone with rough shaking and trouble starting(later when i tried to see if it had cleared itself after sitting for a while).
Code reader returns all cylinder misfire, cat damage, and fuel pressure regulator exceed learning limit - too high.
I’m assuming the cat has gone poo poo and clogged the exhaust? I did hear 2 distinct boom boom sound coming from under/rear of the car when i coasted down the exit, then the car started shaking, alone with burnt rubber smell i thought it was burning somewhere.
i have read numerous cat failures here but i don’t recall them having immediate severe effect on the drivability?
Not sure if p228f is related to all this, and p1315 doesn’t tell me which cat is damaged.
On the off chance that you still have less than 80K miles and have just snuck under the 8-year warranty (2015-2023) limit (for cats), hurry to your nearest JLR dealer.

thanks for bringing that up, I have way less than 80k but the car was in service since mid 2014 so probably not getting a free lunch from jlr.
I’m hoping it’s just the cats, tempted to tow it to an exhaust shop instead of a mechanic😂

yep take it muffler shop for some cheap *** replacement cats that even a cat buyer wont buy. Why should you go to a mechanic and get it diag'd and especially 1 that knows jaguars? Because it is running like crap from misfires and misfires that are bad enough to POTENTIALLY cause cat damage, not that they are. And you need to determine the fueling issue as this can be the cause of your issue with the misfires. Kapeesh?

Yep, I suspect you (Ray Ray) may have it bass ackwards, it's not the cat failure causing the misfires but the other way around the misfires causing the cat failure.
And as we know the most common cause of misfires on these engines is clapped out injectors, either clogged up or stuck open or just plain failed, so that's the first thing I would look for/check.
Thanks for the inputs, shop visit will be scheduled tomorrow and exhaust shop visit will be postponed!
Been pondering why it happened since the incident, injectors and spark plugs seems like the logical answer given the age of the car, but do they just go like that 🫰 and causing all cylinders to misfire without any sign?
i started it up and read the code again today, it’s down to 4 cylinders misfiring permanent code now(1-2-3-4) and the fuel regulator code is gone.
Visual check also finds coolant level a bit lower than minimum Mark, i know it should be full since i flushed it a few months ago along with pinion seal replacement.
Guess i will update when i know for sure, it’s out of my realm of ability and it’s better handled by professional!
