Default CD changer problem

So, I was up loading cd's to the CD changer today ( which takes forever, BTW) I got 4 up loaded fine, uploading the 5th to the 5th slot, all of a sudden it just quit saying "uploading" and now I can't access the cd changer at all. I ejected the cd in the slot and retried, same thing. Just won't even access the changer. It'll play inserted CD's with no problem.. Can't find anything on the search. Help?

Try ejecting all the CDs and disconnecting it from the power source. If that fails I would open it up and look for broken belts.

LOL

Many of us have comprehensive collections of CD music. I'm not counting my 8-track collections either! I DID load several CDs to our F's hard-drive when we first took ownership of the car...which as we are aware, has limited capacity. Could THAT be the issue?????

I've spent a good amount of time loading my favorite music to a USB thumb drive, which has a LOT more capacity, but I have DRIVING to do!
After 5 years of ownership, I got around to enabling Sirius radio...now I probably won't bother with CDs OR the USB.

The original head unit could record 10 CDs, which is kind of handy. It’s not a mechanical changer.

Something is telling you to go digital!

On a serious note, I also have a large CD collection (it's literally 2/3 of a wall in my family room, with the other 1/3 being DVDs). I started ripping them a few years back and have them stored on a NAS. This allows me to play them via Sonos (or direct speaker) in my house but also transfer some to USB drives or Micro SD drives depending on my car.

We do still use the CDs though (not as much) as I also have a FJ Cruiser which does not have an updated headunit.

Yeah, my Ridgeline doesn't have a USB or aux input!

Same here as @Mahjik I have over 48,000 songs on my NAS server at home and placed approximately 200 of my favorite tunes on a USB thumb drive which I plugged into my F-Type. I've never even tried to use the cars CD player since I don't own any more CDs!

Default The MY2017 CD unit

The 'virtual" CD player in the cubby box will take 10 CDs worth of music, but it is a royal pain to upload them, unless you are driving around. If you are in accessory mode, the car will shut itself down after about 15 minutes. Tried the USB drive and it works. Lots easier to put what you want on the USB drive than the unit in the car.

Update!

pressed the eject button a few times even though there was no disc present- all of a sudden, I could access the changer! I'll try to reload to the Ridgeline, Maybe I'll get lucky there, too?

Sunny Beach! Got the Ridgeline CD player working too! Damn CEL just came on!

It took me a couple years to realize we had a CD player in this car! I read my first post about it years ago and thought "What is that dude smoking? We don't have a CD player in this car!" Well clearly I was wrong.

I'm another who didn't discover cd player first 3 years! I still haven't figured out how to upload tho I did 1/2 half of a Bruno Mars album. Don't know how I did it. I would like to use this feature after 11 years. Where can I find info or can someone just lay it out?

I vaguely recall this being poorly documented. The Quick Start guide says to look for MyMusic/Upload.

load a cd, then go to the cd changer and click upload, pick an open spot and click ok. It takes a while so go for a drive. in ACC mode it will turn off after a bit. Once it's loaded, eject the cd and then you can load another

I have personally actually gone back to CDs recently for a few reasons. To start, audio quality is better than most "standard" digital formats. Of course there are lossless formats, but a lot of head units do not play them. Very few streaming services offer lossless streaming either. For some folks, it doesn't mater. For others it does. If I were to guess, I bet this would be one of the number one reasons those of us who do use CDs, still do. Second, if I am using digital, I will generally only listen to songs I like because it is so easy to skip or play something else. When I pulled out my old CDs, and started listening to them in my X-Type (which has been my DD as of late), I realized there are so many "B-Side" songs that are really good that I hadn't heard in years because I was actively avoiding them unwittingly anyway. (A third reason would be that artists generally make a lot more from physical media sales than they do from streaming)
