Default Charge coolers removal

Has anyone ever removed the charge coolers that sit under the alloy engine cover
I want to powder coat the cover but they are worried about grit getting trapped

They are bonded to the lid, so I suspect you will find it pretty difficult. If you do successfully remove them, bonding to a powder-coated surface will be more difficult than to bare aluminum.
