Sorry if this has already been discussed. Got in my '16 V6S last week. Car started fine, pulled out of the parking spot down my parking garage. All of a sudden the A/C switched off, vents retracted, nav screen went black, stereo turned off. It came on about 1/2 mile later, but then did it all over again. About the 5th time it did it I drove straight to the dealer. They did a hard reset, but it is still doing it. Does it about once a day now. The car starts fine and runs fine.
Today I got in the car and it said 'Charging Fault'. It is going into service on Saturday for the fuel filler neck and they are going to look at it.

Anyone had this issue? Ideas?
Thanks!!
First time I've seen this on the forum. The alternator (and/or built-in regulator) may be faulty.
Battery! How often is the car used, and for how long? Low battery voltage or a loose battery or ground connection will produce random symptoms such as these.
I use it as a daily driver winter/summer. It's never sitting for more than a couple of weeks (xmas vacation). Usually is driven to and from work and around town (drive to work is 17 minutes).

I've sent you an email and am hoping you are still on the forums. I read your post above and wondered if the dealership told you what had happened to the electronics and how they fixed it? I'm in Calgary and my 2016 R is doing the same thing (vent shuts down, screen goes off and climate controls turn off and then all come back on within a minute or so).
So they figured out the problem - I've attached the Technician's notes so you can see what they went through to figure it out - was a loose wiring harness that was leading to a short in the wire.
Very thorough description. I recall another case of electrical gremlins where the tech finally found a missing or damaged pin in a connector - that takes a long time to find.

This is not an acceptable outcome. In summary, the work order says that they jiggled the wires around sufficiently so that bumpy roads (at least for now) don't cause a problem. There is still exposed wiring somewhere and this gremlin will reappear at some point.
It's possible that rerouting the harness fixes it permanently, but maybe not. Probably depends on whether the wires were shorting to each other, or shorting to chassis.
Sounds like there is cut insulation. Perhaps a wire was shorting to ground. The diagnosis is thorough, but "Moved it away" is not really a repair (as Unhingd said). The cut in the insulation should be found and covered with tape, and inspected to see if other neighboring wires were also affected. Rerouting may indeed make this problem go away forever, or it may not.
