Default Clear Coat Peeling

While out and about last night I noticed a rather large amount of clear coat peeling off of the top of my front bumper (right in front of hood). It is about 3"x3" and I had never noticed it prior. I can't believe I never have seen this but it appears that it must've escalated quickly from when it started. Has anyone seen this? I've had the car for 9 months (hand washes) and find this very unsettling. I plan to take it in first thing Monday but wanted to see if any of my trusty forum friends had any insights beforehand. Also had seen forum member "Hhmaker" had a clear coat peeling at 5 WEEKS of ownership (wow).

Will get a pic up tomorrow when I'm home.

Was your car delayed at port when it arrived (assuming you ordered it)? Perhaps they did a bad clear coat over an improperly prepared surface to repair a transportation blemish.

That's definitely worth looking into.

My 25 year old, never garaged, totally UV exposed Nissan shed its upper surface clear coat at 24 years of age, so no, at that age - not good at all. My understanding of current paint tech is that the clear coat needs to chemically bond to the base coat (i.e. be applied close in time to the uncured base) so merely respraying the clear over cured base coat is not a great solution and will fail at some point, but I am not an expert...

That's exactly why it is unlikely an issue caused at the factory. Most likely, the peeling clear coat is due to a respray.

Not normal, should be covered by warranty.
