When I test drove a manual F-Type a few months back and when sitting in one yesterday, I noticed that there is not very much room at all to the left of the clutch petal. My 435i has a ton of room to the left of the clutch and even a dead petal. Instead of sliding my left foot off to the left and then down, with the F-Type I found myself having to lift my foot off and then tucking it under. There literally was not enough room for my shoed foot to fit between the clutch petal and the plastic wall. A search didn't find anyone mentioning this issue. So for those who have a manual F-Type, how are you dealing with this?
I've got 4.5" of clearance between the 3rd pedal and the sidewall. Most of my shoes are right at 4", so no issue. You have to swap out your wide track Bostonian for a more streamlined shoe, or get a pair of these:
My sentiments exactly. My BMW had a big dead petal with a plastic cover and I could just skip over to it. On the F, I can only do that with sandals not sneakers. But, like you, I have developed a move of slipping my foot under the clutch and then over. But I also now slowly release the last two inches of clutch play in first to match the delay valve. Yes, it takes some new skills to drive the MT but it is worth it. This has been mentioned in earlier threads. Only other issue for me is the slow filling gas pipe and non- locking gas cap, in case you haven't noticed yet.
