Default Code P0089

Hey all, just decided to do a random check with my code scanner and found this, I don’t have any CEL. Should I try to clear it or bring it up to the dealer; only asking because I’m not exactly close to the dealership.

How odd, I got this code last week on my 16 S, It did however throw up a check engine light, but after Parking it and turning it off for a few minutes the Check engine light went away and it didn't show up on my code reader, Summed it up to bad fuel but My car is at the dealer right now for a P0430 code, (cats) and I told them to check for that stored code and see what it was or if anything needs to be done, I'll update you when I have an answer.

That is odd, and thank you, I might try giving it a clear and seeing if it comes back, I’m waiting on getting a SDD setup so maybe I can run the fuel pressure regular test at home (if there is one) before heading off to the dealer. I’m trying to get sorted before I wreck my warranty with this tune

Yes that is smart, 100% take advantage of the warranty while you have it. Honestly and I know this sounds stupid but drive it hard, as hard you ever plan to drive it before you tune it, see what parts were on the edge or close to breaking because they will most likely fail during hard driving and have it replaced by warranty... Okay maybe not the best idea but an idea nonetheless. Good luck and ill keep this thread updated.

Yea I plan to, my cars relatively young so I gotta comb out any engine problems now, I don’t think it’s bad advice to push it. I just found a road that I think I can push it on, unfortunately I’ve only had the car a couple weeks and already been pulled over so I have to be careful LOL

You don't need to blatantly flaunt speed laws to 'exercise' an engine. Just wait for the engine and drivetrain to warm up thoroughly (10 minutes of DRIVING not IDLING), then stick it in Sport - Dynamic so that you can control the RPMs without shifting.

Then bring it up to 4000 RPM + several times in a low gear (second?) and hold that RPM for half a minute, or a mile or two. Wipe the grin off your face, and REPEAT.

Look up "Italian Tune Up" on Google.

Haha “thanks for the reality check, I promise I wasn’t go off on the engine cold. I’ll look it up, but dang is that actually enough to test out what I’ve got in the power train?

Hey, if you don't think so, sign up for an HPDE event at a racetrack near you.

That is the safest way to actually explore the ultimate capabilities of your 'cat'.

I am an Instructor for some events at Watkins Glen and other tracks, and I can tell you, the F-Type has LOTS of potential (if you know how to use it).
