Default Consolidated Caliper decal sticker thread

I'm creating this thread because my caliper decals had faded to the point of being almost invisible and in trying to find how to best fix the issue, the information I needed was spread across multiple thread on different websites. So here's the quick version:

- No, you are probably not to blame for the stickers fading. It seems to happen on most F-Types for at least the first 4-5 years of production. I haven't seen anything about newer ones.
- The size of the decal you need is 65mm
- ***Most places sell the old style 'JAGUAR' and not the one that has been in use for the entire production run of the F-Type.
Here is the logo from 2001 to 2012:

And here is the logo from 2012-2024. This is the one on all F-Types and you can immediately see several differences. The bottom of the J goes further to the left and all the letters are more stretched:

**Note - most places sell the old 'JAGUAR' script. Yes I said that twice. They say it's current and it's not. The one above was one of the few I could find that was correct.
- When covering the existing faded decal. it is difficult to line up the new one correctly as the material that holds the stickers in alignment is difficult to see through. What I did was cut the sticker/backing/clear layer all along the bottom of the lettering. This allowed me to effectively line up the bottom of the J, which helped the rest of the sticker line up well. I confirmed that the R was lining up too before I smoothed the sticker and ensured that is would stay.
**Side note, in my racing days, I would spray a solution of diluted Dawn dish soap on the surface before placing a sticker. This would allow me to move the sticker around and once you smooth the sticker down with a credit card or squeegee, the fluid would be forced out and the sticker would stay in place for years. This was great when I would put several sponsor stickers on my blank fairings and I would want them to all align correctly and be centered. I've had stickers I put down this way survive crashes. I did not use this same trick with these decals as they were quite small, I had a clear place where they were supposed to be and I'm not sure if some residue left behind would have issues with the high heat of the calipers.
- On my wheels, there was plenty of room to put the stickers on without removing the wheels. I just backed up until they were exposed.

I think that's it. I bought extra stickers because they were only about $5 each and my peace of mind is worth $10.

They have a paper backing, a clearish cover and the stickers are in the middle. They come with clear directions on prep and application.

@eeeeek Thanks for the great info. So much easier than applying to freshly painted calipers (one chance to get it right) and then spraying clear coat several times.

I ended up painting my calipers gold and using 2 black decals from eBay that had the leaper on top of the lettering.

Problem was there wasn't enough room on that front plate for both the leaper and the letters so I had to cut it in half - the leaper just fit on the rear calipers and the lettering on the front as you have. Time for new brake pads and fluid so I will be doing a caliper refresh soon.

Speaking of refresh, who knows, maybe I should "Copy Nothing" and get some pink decals instead?!

Thanks for posting this.
I have been rabbiting on for years about the new style font vs the old style font and how soooo many sellers of decals, wheel centre caps etc etc proffer the old incorrect style and claim it is "current" when it patently is not.
I have also struggled to find sellers of the correct new style decals so thanks for that link!

I like that idea. I wouldn't think there would be room for anything on the rear calipers.

Oz, I think it was one of your posts buried in one of the many threads that brought this to my attention. Now I can't not see it.

When I repainted the calipers in yellow a few years ago I also applied new decals (of the correct style!), not sure where I got them from, but I put them on the rear calipers as well. I can't recall the exact size now but I think it was either 50 mm or 55 mm long and they fitted perfectly OK.
The linked decals come in both 50 mm and 55 mm so measure up the calipers first and choose your poison!
One tip - the first time I tried to apply decals to the rear calipers (after I recoated them in red) they would not stick at all, and I worked out it was due to the rough/dimpled surface of the calipers. So next time (when I painted the calipers yellow), before I applied the yellow paint, I gently filed down the part of the caliper where the decal goes to a flat/smooth finish, and this time the decals stuck well.

Exactly this. Once I see something that doesn't look right to me, I can't unsee it.

@Carbuff2 LOL I like your attention to detail! Yes mine both sashay forward so they must have sent me a left and right decal. It was many moons ago so I don't remember and the eBay link has expired. This was the only new one I could find that has non-solid leapers but only one direction. The BCD site also has solid leapers too plus you can choose left or right.

Regarding alignment, I would also use the J-shaped mark and the edge of the caliper as a guide. That's the most logical anchor. And yes, I wouldn't risk using soapy water on the calipers because of the temperature. If you're unsure about the year or version, you can order a free VIN decoder at https://carfast.express/en/vin_decoder. This helps you understand which parts should be installed from the factory.

I believe these work for the door handles as well.
