Default curb rash on black wheels (pics)

hey guys...got some curb rash the other day. Right on the lip, not too big or noticeable I think. I have tire/wheel insurance but haven't called them yet, expect them not to cover since it's cosmetic. The car is leased so Jag might ding me for it when I return it anyway, so I was thinking of getting it to someone to fix. Anyone have any experience with this? The fact that it's a black wheel makes me a tad more concerned than if it were silver like most cars.

It depends upon the insurance, some cover cosmetic damage some do not. There are a lot of different types of insurance sold through the dealer from third party insurers.

That's nothing that a decent wheel touch up guy couldn't take care of well enough to make it hardly noticeable. Shouldn't cost you much really. Flat black is an easy touch up relative to a metallic paint IMO. May not even be necessary. I've leased a bunch of luxury cars and I've never been dinged once for minor curb rash even when just turning it in and not leasing another.

I swear mine get rubbed turning a corner, got a wheel guy with a trailer that does it for $75, what he charges dealers who then charge $125-150!

As said above, coverage depends on your specific policy. For cosmetic coverage, most insurance carriers will pay up to $125 per wheel per incident. A decent re-conditioner will make that look like new.

Check with your carrier, I'll bet that's covered and the mobile guys can do that on the car without even removing the tire, they just deflate it and work their magic around it...it'll be as good as new.
