I hit something (?) on a bend in a country road doing about 60. There was a hell of a bang and it scared me somewhat, the car being only a couple of months old.
I had no idea what I had hit and it wasn't safe to stop immediately. On inspection the near side rear wheel had been curbed with a small tear in the tyre. The car drove ok and no other damage was apparent. I guess I went too close to the edge of the road but what I hit is a mystery.
Anyway the point of all this is to say that I had the wheel refurbished and it's now like new.
My worry was not that it could be fixed but that the colour match would be difficult. I had it done by Phoenix Alloys, Brislington near Bristol UK and they did a great job. Dropped the car in on a Tuesday and worried about it until I picked it up on the following Friday.
They completely refurbished the rim, the colour match was perfect, put it back on the car with the correct tyre pressure, rebalanced and no issues with the TPM system. They also valeted the car. All for £68 plus 20% govt tax.
I don't intend to curb another rim but I'll be much more relaxed about the outcome

Small shallow tear in the tyre, not critical. I glued it back into place.
The rim is like new, impossible to tell it was ever damaged nor where the damage was.
The process....

I did the same... curbed my black rim... ended up lightly sanding and using black magic marker. Kind of ghetto, but damage not noticeable. I'll need to have a rim repair done at some point.

Yes VAT Value Added Tax. It's on most things. Complicated way of showing what Value was Added, see...

It's even Added after some other taxes have been added in some cases !

Okay, thanks. I just did the same thing and need to glue the tire back too. I don't want to replace the tire or the damaged wheel until I am ready for my new set of tires and maybe wheels. But I do need to clean up the curb rash on my black wheel too.

I had a Triumph Tiger 1050 for a while and ordered several items from Adventure-Spec in the UK.

For us Yanks, they waive the VAT.

Since I was ordering some fairly heavy parts made by Adventure-Spec (they do not have a US distributor) I added a few parts made here in the states (which did not add to the shipping charges) and actually got them cheaper from across the pond than I could get them locally.

What glue did you use on the rubber? Is it holding well?

I have the same damage to a Pirelli in the front.

I used superglue. Worked really well, no sign of the piece coming off.

I used tire patch repair glue when I did the same damage. It is made for the tire compound.
