Daily driver or weekend toy?
Technically my V8S is not my daily driverI guess since I don't use it to commute to work, but to call it a weekend car just doesn't seem accurate either unless my "weekend" has gotten really long and spaced out! I just drive it every chance I get and have taken it on several trips. About 10K miles this year and Ive loved everyone of them. Guess in some ways its a toy but still practical for me.
My wife calls it "my mistress".

The daily drivers have it.
I cut my teeth tweaking the supercharger on the Gen 1 MINI. Now playing in the big leagues with the Jag.
not my daily driver car. I have a long drive each day and not going to kill this car so it's more like a weekend type car for me. I drive it when I want to drive it.. Choose the car as you will enjoy it.
Mine is a toy. One reason is my classic car insurance policy specifies not to use it as a commuter.... saves me over $1200/year in insurance. I took delivery 12/24/15 and it has less than 1900 miles on the clock! I know, I know.... DRIVE it Bill! If I had covered parking at my office, I'd consider driving it more. Just can't stand to have it baking in the hot, SC sun all day. Not good for the interior. It will be one of those cars in 30 years that's a perfect survivor.
My DD is a 2001 P38 Range Rover with 65k on the clock. I've fixed all of the electronic niggles on it and it runs perfectly. I also use my 2012 F250 quite a bit. I'm tempted to get an XE to use as a DD... what do ya'll think of those?

Use it extensively as DD and also pretend that it is the sole car except when more than 2 people need to be accommodated. That happens like 5 - 8 days a year.
No matter what complaints there might be (noise, stiffness, more miles = more depreciation etc), it adds some form of an experience to the daily drives.

Another daily driver--Type R coupe outside of Philly as well.
Always use a "winter" set up (dedicated performance winter tire or DWS) with my cars. Likely going with the new DWS06 since Jay can't stop raving about them!

As Darth Vader would say, you will love them.

Mostly just an evening/weekend summer toy, although I do take it to work once a week or so when the weather is nice or if I'm going out that evening directly from work. My 75 mile roundtrip daily hell/commute is normally done via Camry. Not nearly as fun, but it's well suited for spending 16k miles/year or so doing 10mph staring at someone's taillights...
Polaris makes a good point - it's fine as a daily driver, but not as an only car. The convertible trunk is miniscule, though I can shoehorn my golf clubs in. But you're probably thinking coupe, if you're planning to drive it year-round. Test drive a convertible anyway, just for fun.
As an only car it has some serious deficiencies, but if I can transport a car transmission on my motorcycle, I can do my grocery shopping with the F-Type. I did not try to fit a bee hive in it though. I suspect that would have been an exercise in futility. Carrying a bicycle seems iffy at best as well.

Doesn't have to be. With the rear hatch and pano roof, this would appear to be the perfect solution without jeopardizing the sheet metal. (Credit goes to Shift for this find.)

I was thinking of that as I was typing. I couldn't remember the brand, but know that was out there. Not as nice as the Team Sky F-Type modification, but far less expensive.
Mine's a DD & I commute a long distance for work on a weekly basis. I'm on my second set of tires. Bought the car 2nd-hand in late January with ~4900 on the odo. I've clocked >10k miles since. The only times I've not driven her was when there was the threat of freezing rain/sleet in January & February. Not that anything would have fared well in those conditions even with proper winter tires, I elected to drive my F-150 on those few occasions to keep The Sled out of potential harm's way. If I still lived in NY, I'd have a second set of wheels with Blizzaks mounted for the winter. (Which is what I did when I had my BoxsterS up there.)
