Great thread. I see these and wish I had the patience to re-build classic cars.

I've heard that it takes forever to get JLR parts. It seems like you are doing ok there though!

It took my dealership two months to get a piece of window trim.

I kind of like the Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Hyde look. Keep pushing.

That is crazy. There is a small dealer in Reno NV that has been awesome to work with and has been getting me parts very quickly and affordably. Pleasant attitude and has all the parts diagrams and pricing online.

Thank you, it's getting there. Now that she is mobile I need to get an alignment performed. Then I fear she will sit in the garage under a car cover for a few weeks while I divert funds to the wedding/honeymoon...

I just noticed the driverside seat having from what it appears a ripped seam. Did the side seat airbag deploy? Any fault lights?

Yup, drivers wheel bag and seat bag deployed. I have yet to locate the steering wheel bag, and it can't be shipped. I might be resigned to purchasing at my local dealer...and I shudder at the thought. I have a local upholstery shop which can restitch the seat once I have the airbags replaced.

Ok, got the alignment completed and she drives and handles perfect. Everything is now set to factory specs and she is a beast. However, I have one issue I need assistance with. I will also post in the technical forum, but I need assistance on a C1B02 ABS Return Pump Circuit error. Does someone know the fuse number controlling this circuit and/or the wire color? Thank you in advance.

Your original post was on 4/3, so you have the car roadworthy in something just over a week? That's pretty amazing work. What's left to do?

Much unfortunately....she is hideously ugly on one side, but I still love her. The new door arrives today and the fender tomorrow. Once I get those installed it will be off to the body shop for final repairs and paint. The door has the new mirror which will take care of the Ambient Air Temperature error code because that is where is it housed. Currently I have only one additional error code I am unable to resolve and will be trying to tackle that today. Once the body is finished, the final part will be the airbags and resets to the SRS modules. While I am now able to drive her, it will be another month or longer before everything is back to original condition. I just wanted to get the mechanicals and suspension checked out and completed to make sure there was not any additional hidden damage/expenses to make me not want to finish the rebuild on her.

Thank you and...well, one might be surprised. My friends all laugh at me. When I say I am going to keep a vehicle, that is the kiss of death. On average it has less than a month left in my stable. In the past year I have rebuilt and sold an XLR, a 'vette convertible, and a sweet Corvette Grand Sport on the sports car side of things not counting the Jeeps. Over the past 10 years I have rebuilt close to 3 dozen vehicles for personal use...but I am slowing down and have less time to work on them.

As to your point, yes, this is by far my favorite vehicle I have rebuilt/restored. Although, I am thinking I will sell this one at some point this summer and pickup an R coupe to rebuild. One is going through tomorrow and my finger is itching to bid on it...

Couple additional updates:

I finished blacking out the front grill and got it re-installed. In addition, I added the 1" spacers to the rear wheels and they look SO much better. I will take some better pics this afternoon in the sunlight.

Looks like you do really good & fast work. Thanks for sharing everything!

Where did you get the rear spacers? Anything extra needed to install them? Thinking about same for mine.

Thanks!

They were the easiest part thus far. Bolted on with no issues. Fortunately these wheels had slots between the lug holes where the original Jag studs extended into when I installed the adapters. Worked great and they are hub centric so the fit is nice and tight.

So, I recieved the door today...and nothing is simple. This one had no power mirrors and only a single window switch on the drivers side. I guess I will be pulling the wiring harness from my old one and swapping. Anyone have need for a basic mirror with no power, no object detection, and apparently no ambient air temp sensor? Yeah, me either. Oh well.

Sounds like a door from a right hand drive vehicle to me...

You seem to be correct sir!

...on a side note, these wiring harnesses must go in before anything else is installed into the door...just sayin...
