Hope they can get this thing working... I have a 2014 base model and the infotainment is pretty horrible and dated. would love to update it.

Was the unit you purchased for your Beemer a Merryway unit?

Small update -

I'll be getting the replacement Merryway unit tomorrow according to DHL Express - depending on when it comes it determines if I can test it tomorrow, at the latest Friday.

A short interlude while rickw and frostysauce get things sorted...much kudos to them both.
If Merryway can eventually produce a backwards compatible solution to this then JLR definitely could. Rather cynical of them not to do so. Yes they want us to buy a new model rather than upgrade an older one.
Customer loyalty is a also a powerful tool. Not many people are going to trade in their cars for a new model just to get a $1000 upgrade.
A Jaguar is forever could be a good slogan.

I'm sure this must have been asked before. Can the new larger infotainment system in the 2019's be retrofitted?

I liked that, also thought it was clever for the iPace - "it's always the quiet ones you need to watch"

Default jaguar available upgrade

Are you guys aware if you have the Incontrol Touch Pro with the 10” screen you can bring it to the dealer and have them add CarPlay or the android play. It’s availble for som 17’ (I believe just the XE) models and all 18 & 19’ models. It should only set you back like $300.

If you've read the thread, you would see we are all mostly in the '16 and under club.

Hey guys -

Quick update, apologies for not getting back to you all sooner. Long story short, I accidentally sent my stock headunit backboards to China with the non-working Merryway screen

Instead of waiting around for it to make such a long journey back, I went ahead and bought a second hand unit which should be arriving sometime on Thursday. Merryway did say they were going to go ahead and test the unit with my OEM backboards since they had them, but I haven't heard anything on that yet. Hopefully on Thursday or Friday I can test the new Merryway unit with the backboards and hopefully help conclude this epic saga.

Thanks for the update Frosty. Understandable mistake. Commendable dedication on your part.

We have liftoff!

I received the replacement OEM unit today and was able to use the new Merryway unit and marry them to the replacement OEM backboards. I was able to get full OEM functionality, I could use the AC controls, radio screens, dynamic menu, etc exactly as if I still had the OEM unit in .

I think the key here is to make sure the battery is disconnected before installing the new unit, and that the ribbon cables are inserted correctly. On top of that, it took us a lot of time to reverse engineer the OEM system as well as how the Merryway unit integrates with it. Rick has been great to bounce ideas off of and hopefully I didn't make his wife jealous by spending so much time with him on the phone

Here is a teaser photo - I didn't have all that much time to mess around with it just yet, such as updating the Google maps app or installing Android auto and what not. I did route the audio out from the unit into the cars accessory audio in in the glovebox, so that should allow all of the audio from the android unit to go through the car. I had parking sensor beeps and everything was working as a factory setup.

I'm on mobile here as I have an event to attend tonight, but there should be a teaser pic of it installed with the factory menu open.

Frostysauce can you confirm what year and sound system wattage you have?

hello sir, I have a 2015 R with the 770w system. For what its worth, the only important thing is to know if you have a capacitive or resistive touchscreen.

What am I missing? The UI looks exactly the same as the stock unit. Only difference I see is that the physical menu buttons are now part of the touch screen. RickW posted a screenshot on 11/29 that showed a more "modern" UI that appears to be from a more modern Jag.

I think my confusion came from Paul’s capacitative vs resistive picture post, where it looked like mine wouldn’t support this replacement. I have a MY2016 770w and my vin number is in the 24k range which I should mean we have the same type of stock unit.

He's showing that he can now access all the factory screens, too.
