You can use the 3.5mm, or Bluetooth audio directly from your phone to the cars IAM

Wow, so it seems like it's shaping up to be pretty decent then? How does the touch screen handle the physical buttons that are no longer there?

So, when the iphone is hooked up to carplay, the music and radio apps play through the car's speakers via the 3.5mm input? What about voice directions in the navigation apps?

I wonder if one of those new wireless carplay dongles would work well with this.

hi all
I have been considering options for updating the infotainment and was interested in the merryway but ultimately I don't think i'd use the android stuff much as im an apple guy and it seems to be an old version of android.

has anyone had any experience with this unit? it seems to be a carplay add on for the stock screen?

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Jaguar-F...gAAOSwLVNdQ8JC

any info would be appreciated

It is a package to integrate Android Auto or Apple Carplay to your existing OEM car stereo. For me, I just install the apps I want on my Merryway unit, and only use my phone for bluetooth and tethering the data signal. I suppose this package will fill the needs of Apple guys, or guys who for whatever reason would rather mirror their Android phone rather than just installing the apps on their receiver. Seems a little on the pricey side to me though. Compared to some other companies I have seen offering the same thing. I used to have those companies bookmarked, but I deleted the bookmarks after I installed the Merryway unit.

If price isn't a consideration, I would give it a try. If it is, I would do a search and see if you can find some of the other companies that offer the same types of packages.

Has anyone tried installing and using a car launcher app like CarWebGurus? The "Range" theme they have available would fit really nicely in our cars.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...dio.carwebguru

I'm seriously considering this upgrade again now that I found out you can have a fully customizable interface.

Received a link to this Merryway unit on Ebay.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-Multime...97.m4902.l9144

Now sporting Android 7.1 - 1G Ram.

Does this solve most problems????

You should look for 2GB RAM or greater for any Android unit running Android 5 or higher. I have had 4 Android stereo receivers(3 universal, one from Merryway made for Jag interface), and my experience with a 1GB unit, was that it was very sluggish if multitasking(i.e. running Waze and Spotify at the same time).

I would advise that you look for a 2GB unit, Merryway makes them for the XJ, I can't see them not making them for your model. I seriously don't know why they sell 1GB units at all.

Also, that link you posted goes to this thread, this page, not to Ebay.

Thanks for input, and I fixed the link.

I see right there on ebay how they have much more powerful units for BMW, etc. Perhaps they are just unloading the outdated junk here for our lower volume car. Will wait for a 2GB or higher model.

The Android version doesn't really matter all that much. Most of the OS version improvements don't really make all that much difference in a car stereo applications. It is the RAM that is important. I found two sites that have the 2GB available for your F-type, but for some reason it appears they are way more expensive than for the other Jag models. 1. https://www.aliexpress.com/i/32950463403.html
2. https://exclusivecarauto.com/1025-mu...4&currency=USD

Compare that to what I can find for other Jaguar models: https://kanorcardvdplayer.aliexpress..._6044285.1_1_0

That is good. I would be curious to know if the latest updates will include the fast boot option. If so, I would be willing to drop another $800 to get it.

I was just about to go Navi plus but saw this so I guess It will be better to wait, I had a AVIN on my old bmw (same Android like type of thing) and my only issue was with sound hopefully merryway can do something better but it wouldn’t be the end of the world. Just crossing my fingers

Does it support for after-market rear view camera? In my xj there is only RCA cable from camera and no OEM cable.

Update.
I've found video, in the settings there is option to chose factory/after-market camera.

I asked my friend from china to buy and send me one head unit, he called to factory (Kanor, not Canavie) and they said no left in stock and they don't know then it'll be, because they are developing new version of head unit for x351... Just for your information.
