I have the Kanor version in my basket on AliExpress. I keep checking as the price jumps around and to see if the spec's on the unit have changed any?
It's currently Android 7.1 with 2GB RAM and 32GB ROM. Hoping they will go to Android 8 or 9 and 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM units.

Sellers started removing XJ head units from their stores, I think till last one sold. So I believe they will add new one product once it rolls out. Factories already removed head units for XJ from web sites, I'm waiting for new one 😏

Good news !
The F TYPE unit with new platform was tested well and will be ready for sell in next week , here we would like to collect the order and we hope we can send all the unit before Chinese New Year holiday ( 17th ,Jan. )
Yesterday , I installed the car with my engineer, here I would attached the videos and the after installation picture for refer .

 

Hey, were they able to fix the poor audio quality after installing, hopefully you could showcase it in the video. I’m assuming this is going to be with merry way?
edit: also will this work only with Harman or can it work with Bosch also (I have Bosch)

Glad to hear it and I also have been in contact with Andy who's with Canavie. He also indicates a updated unit is almost ready for release.

Really excited to ditch my 2014 antique. I have an android 9 HU with 4GB of RAM in another car and it's everything I want in a headunit. Hopefully the audio is up to par as well.

 

i'd love to see it in action before i can commit to purchasing one, but i'm very interested.

 

She sent some pictures and a short video. However, not much to see as it was like the other videos on the web.

I've asked about a group buy for the forum members and she said with normal price is $1200 but she could provide a discount. She mentioned that she would join the group soon to discuss and share more information.

It looks like there are some new Android 9 headunits available on aliexpress now. Not Merryway yet but other vendors. Anyone want to take a chance ordering from China right now?

 

Yup, there is new units at Up Electronics and Canavie Technologies stores.

 

Jenny Tang posted a new install video in a F-Type. It's dark, but you see most of the install. Almost nothing from the performance after the install though.

 

Merryway isn't a vendor, they are the manufacturer many of the vendors get their head units from.

 

People knew what I meant. LeeSpring is the manufacturer that is available right now on aliexpress and merryway is just one of the many manufacturers in the Chinese android game. The also sell their own stuff. They vend.

I would be HIGHLY careful with Jenny and Merryway, she left 3 people high and dry with units that do not work. Merryway sucks as a vendor, they do know how to support customers. For me, my unit stopped working, we asked MULTIPLE TIMES for help and an RMA and was basically just left high and dry. Another member installed fined but with all the bugs on integration we were left with nothing, and another user who had an upgraded unit (one described above), they sent him a harness that never worked with the intended integration.

This unit is buggy, The sensors do not work half the time for parking, alarm system fails to work at times, among other things..

 

I can see I should have been checking in here vs facebook. My fault.

 

The problem is that you seldom know which manufacturer the vendors are getting their head units from. I guessed mine was from Merryway because of the look, so I asked the vendor and they confirmed it. So I suppose the best course of action is to ask before ordering. Luckily, I haven't had any real issues, just a few minor bugs that are easy to work around. Nothing with the sensors not working, etc. Maybe I just go lucky.

 

I stand corrected. I do see that Merryway has a presence on Aliexpress now. Back when I got mine, nothing came up when searching for Merryway on Aliexpress. Going to their website, didn't have any options from buying directly from them either. I wonder if that has changed? Looking on Aliexpress, although I do see Merryway for Jaguar, I don't see any for the XJL.
