Diff oil change - reuse plugs?
Hi all,
I'm going to change the diff oil on my XE S, which has the same rear end as a base F-Type.
The workshop manual says to ditch the plugs and put new ones in. Any good reason for that? The drain plug is magnetic and costs $25..
What would you do?
Cheers,
Alex

If it does, that's the reason for a replacement every time. It is standard engineering practice to use O-rings and crush washers one time only. In real life, that doesn't mean the O-ring is damaged or cannot be used again, but Jaguar cannot ignore the engineering spec, in its documentation.
I've reused captured O-rings twice, but I use an O-ring lube on the ring itself as the PTFE can help to slightly swell the rubber ring. Also always use o-ring lube on new too.
Crush washers I do not reuse, only in some dire emergency.
Yeah, if it is a tapered pipe thread, agree, does not need replacement. Wouldn't be a second thought on my part as well!
