Differential replaced @ 26488 miles
Is there a longer warranty than standard coverage (60 months for MY 16 in USA) for rear diff? I only drive 5-6k per year on the car. Sounds like this could be part defect and it's only an matter of time and mileage, although some failures seeming to happen at low mileage.
Two possible causes I think is insufficient damping in the driveline. While I never intentionally tried, I bet I could kill diff in F-type under an hour power shifting on track.
+1. Particularly with the MT, it would be easy to quickly abuse that tiny diff into a pretzel.
Well based on this thread;
- V6S mechanical diff; three failures 2014,2014 & 2016
- V8S/R Electronic diff; three failures 2014, 2014 and 2016
I'm not aware of any changes year to year

Apparently, anything with either type of LSD.
Can you explain for me. I am a bit confused. Does the 2016 F-Type R have the one that is prone to problems, or the one that is not? Thanks I am just a bit confused reading the thread.
Yes, 2016 are affected. OP of this Thread has a 2016 R.
The mechanical limited slip diff in the V6S and R-Dynamic has also failed a number of times with broken spider gears. The open diff on the base models seems to be the only reliable one.
had some grinding noise a while back, took it to the agent, they told me it was the propeller shaft, and it was replaced under warranty. Also, I had the differential assembly redone as well, around 18 months ago.
Glad i extended my warranty, yesterday Jaguar Middle East told me that they have stopped selling year 6-7 warranties in the Region.
