Default Dirty black bits on the butt

I am used to the rear of the car collecting dust and dirt with most of the other cars I have owned, but my F-Type seems to be collecting bigger bits of black garbage, not just grey road dirt. We have no freshly oiled roads but that is what it looks like. Are my P-Zeros throwing off stuff? Is this coming out of the exhaust?
Does anyone else have this?

I've experienced the same thing. I took it to the best detailer in the area and he informed me that it is because of the tire cleaner I was using and that with many cars it just flies past, but when it flies off the tires with the shape of the F-Type it just gets everywhere.

Too small for dingleberries....but I wondered about the tires. I guess I will have to use my quick detailing spray on the rear fairly often. I wonder if Michelins are better?

The black powdery film on the rear is mostly brake pad and rubber dust. In addition, anything else you run through will get kicked up and sucked onto the rear of the car.

The aerodynamics of this car are such that there's a low pressure area created just behind the car that sucks dust and debris onto the rear clip. That's true of many cars today, but the F-Type is worse than average.

I flat-tow a Jeep behind our motorcoach. When I start the Jeep engine after it's been towed, I always have the faint smell of burning rubber for 25-50 miles until it burns off. It's from the rubber dust kicked up by the coach that collects on the Jeep engine.

This is not a film, it is discrete bits but tires still make sense. Brake pad stuff has always been fine dust. This rear dirt is even worse than a Corvette!

Yes, bad choice of words, should have said "powdery coating, mixed in with other bits."

I had mine out for a drive yesterday and went to wipe it down today and had a fine black film over the entire car. Not sure where it came from. You could not see it unless you looked at the cloth used to wipe it down. My car is rhodium silver.

I get some small bits on the rear of my R Coupe as well. It appears that they are coming from the exhaust. You will see this if you view some of the R exhaust videos on YouTube... condensation forms in the exhaust and gets spit out of the pipes.

This is illustrated in the video link below around the 3 minute mark:

It's more apparent on the R. I previously owned a V6 coupe, but did not notice it on that car. Some sooty condensation, but no splash up... Could be the location of the pipes on the V6 vs the R.

There's plenty of black dust on the V6, and it's not coming from the exhaust. When I hose off the back of the car, you can see the black just rolling off. After one 50-mile RT commute, I can swipe a fingertip anywhere on the lower rear off my white car, and it will be black.

Brake dust no doubt. Both of mine have exhibited that. I was under the impression that the OP was referring to the black specs created by the exhaust.

I am talking about the black specks, not the dust. I see that stuff in video coming out of the exhaust and that is probably the cause. Exhaust or tires?

I get exactly the same black flecks. I've been attributing it to the exhaust.

It's from the exhaust. You clearly see it spit up onto the rear bumper between 3:00 and 3:12

So, if you warm up the engine before taking off, is this less likely?

Actually that may well be true. I did not notice the black bits after my highway-speed drive home, first 400 miles. But I have only driven around town since then and I see the black bits. I wonder if the police would mind if I drove 55 or so around town?
