I think they all do it - the pops and crackles are delivered by injecting tiny amounts of fuel directly into the exhaust and in the dark you'd occasionally see what you see on the video. You just don't see too many exhaust vids taken in the dark/semi-dark.

Here's a great article Shift found that talks about the pops and crackles.

2014 Jaguar F-Type is calibrated for sonic delight - SAE International

I truly think jaguar knocked it out of the park with the exhaust on the F. It's spectacular.

Someone should investigate this. Perhaps by hanging paper mache or toilet paper or something behind the tailpipe.

IDK--- never heard anyone say mine shot flames but that exhaust doesn't sound all that great to me compared to the many other vids of the F Type R.

Yes, puffy, spun sugar, too; but the author of the first link seems to think the F-Type R melted his mic. Here it is again: JOYRIDER The Jaguar F Type Coupe R Review - 6SpeedOnline.com#

Oh, I think that was K.C. and the Sunshine Band you were hearing. But, I don't much like it that way either....

Or, perhaps it was A Flock of Seaguls singing "Iran so far away."

Thanks for reposting this article. This is the first time I have seen it and the design of the exhaust system quite impressive. Hopefully it will last the life of the car. I wouldn’t want to be the guy who has to replace it someday.
