Dynamic throttle response subdues crackles?
Was enjoying a nice drive of the R yesterday, playing toggling the throttle response setting ("dynamic engine" response on/off when Dynamic mode enabled) and found that the crackles on decel all but disappeared with the setting on (yes, exhaust flaps were open). With the setting off, backfires resumed immediately. Never liked the overzealous throttle mapping anyway, but how ironic "dynamic engine" inadvertently mutes the exhaust. Anyone else noticed this?
yep in dynamic mode less burble on overrun - 2015 build R
if you understand how they create the burble, in simplest words they fire the injectors during exhaust valve open phase, this creates a lot more heat through the cats/exhaust, so maybe their thinking is if you're in dynamic you'd be pushing car hard and generating more heat than usual to begin with
porsche do this too on their highest throttle mapping on their gt cars
i don't believe there's any advantage or disadvantage on a non-turbo car to do this for engine/throttle response, i'd bet it's principally to manage exhaust temps
