Default Dynamic Mode - what does it do?

On my 2014 XK Dynaamic R with modified zaust, and no resonator gubbings I think it's just a pretty light.

Tested at 50mph and 80mph aand can'r hear or feel a difference, albeit those were on straight stretches of tarmac

So what is it supposed to do?

Oh, and yes I did a forum search but didn't garner any further info after 4 pages

Googles and understand what it's SUPPOSED to do but wanted some users input.

Shift points change , throttle response changes , suspension changes and exhaust valves stay open. I believe the steering response changes too.

Big difference in the XK N/A, Throttle is WAY more responsive. Ride is a only tad stiffer. Maybe on the //R it's not as noticeable.... ??

I used sport mode and dynamic together today for the first time.

Scared the bejesus out of me...luckily I've not got ivory seats or the.. erm..emissions (would have been very visible!)

So do tell, should dynamic only be used in sport mode?

Nah. Lots of members use Dynamic exclusively. It makes driving just a tad more enjoyable. I agree with the first time I used Sport and Dynamic together... though I wasn't quite to the point you were. It was quite a difference than Normal and Normal.

My wife thinks the car (XE) drives better in Dynamic Mode than Normal. Not a fan of the Sport Mode on any Jag. Shift points go from too often in normal to artificially long in Sport.

My personal experience is that if I shift into sport with the car stopped, it shifts very nicely. But if I shift into sport while moving, it tends to hold a gear way too long, but does smooth out after awhile. Now I always make sure I'm stopped at a stoplight before shifting into sport.

Good to know. My other issue with XE is the 8 speeds... Makes manual mode a chore. 6 is all any of these cars need!

My default is dynamic mode, DSC limited and sport, pretty much habit now The only time I go normal is longer high way trips for better mpg.

I'm a normal setting driver and use dynamic once in a while just for the exhaust note. As for SPORT I only used it once when I first got the car. The throttle response led me to leave to much rubber on the road.

I'd agree with your missus on that. The gearbox in the XE is a bit lazy in normal mode, but better in dynamic. Sport mode seems to confuse the box and make for jolty changes.

The F type in sport is really good (much better than the XE with the same box), and it keeps the car in manual rather than changing back. Dynamic is great, but the suspension gets a bit hard for my liking.

I'm always interested in these threads. I just hit Dynamic as a default when I use sport mode, and I was going to ask whether anyone uses Dynamic WITHOUT Sport. Question answered.

On mine in sport the exhaust jumps two octaves higher in note that makes it sound like a baby girl crying LOUD! Possibly because I've got no backbox that's the consequence?

So am avoiding using it
