Thumbs up Easy ECO Stop/Start disable - Applicable to cars without 2nd battery

Discussion within another thread, thought I would give it its own thread so all can benefit.

1. Remove battery liner in rear boot.
2. Remove boot (trunk) liner
3. Locate control module bottom right hand side - as you look in the boot
4. Remove the below plug and secure back with a Ty-wrap

5. Put the liners back in

When re-starting your car, the ECO button will illuminate during the system checks for a few seconds and then extinguish.

ECO Stop/Start will no longer function.
No errors are flagged on the display unless you press the ECO button, and it will show that ECO Stop/Start is unavailable.

ENJOY!

Tel, how did you hit upon this solution? I'm sure you didn't start randomly pulling plugs. Did you have access to the Jag's wiring diagrams? Was it suggested (unofficially) by a service technician?

30+ years of playing with electronics, cars, bikes and ROV's helped to work it out! ;-)

Now you need to figure out how to get our US/Cdn gas caps to lock. I betcha it's just a lock that plugs in that they've left off.

I wish someone on the forum had access to a shop manual and p/n lists.

Some do...

The petrol filler lock is not fitted to the NAS cars. So it's not a case of activating it or plugging it in, it's completely missing...

I know that it is not there. I meant that I thought it was possible that one could buy the locking mechanism, install it and plug it into a wiring harness. As others have surmised, probably everything else is there already, they've just deleted the locking mechanism.

If some have more info on the missing pieces, I think we'd like to know ....

What DuhCar said. All we need is the locking pin. The necessary hole and barrel is already in place. All we need is the solenoid pin. I also need a trim guide so I don't bugger up anything when removing the right rear trim panels in the cargo area. With the part number we can order from Land Rover Parts and Jaguar Spares | Britcar UK Ltd as this part will not be available in the states. It is very likely that the harness connector is still in place as Foosh suggests, but I'm wondering whether one of the computers needs to be flashed to send a signal to that connector. This has gotten way OT. I will move to new Thread

Default OMG it's haunted!

I pulled the black plug to disable the auto start about two months ago. Everything has been fine until today. The auto start switch light goes off after a few seconds.

I was in the gas lineup at Costco (yeah, I know...). when the auto start came to life. It worked about three of four times with the light coming on in the center display and the switch was lit.

BUT THE BLACK PLUG WAS STILL UNPLUGGED!

It may be something to do with the combination of a quick start and then a quick stop before the switch light goes off. But it sure was freaky.

Fear not DuhCar; It's highly probable and will happen on occasion without any damage. Basically it's a glitch causing the Stop/Start to 'fire'. It can occur after a short start and stop cycle. When the car 'boots' up and the light is lit (even with the signal plug disconnected) it seems it is still active.

It may have been your cars reluctance to drink Costco Fuel ? ;-)

That's what I figured happened, but that raises the question of the purpose of the black plug and its wiring.

Also, on another thread Costco is in the top tier of fuel retailers.

Probably why the stop/start needs to be properly disabled in the CCF...

CCF = Car Configuration File

With regards to the connections;

The plug in question (one that is removed to disable) carries the signal to/from the module.

The other two larger plugs carry the Power and Earths to the module.

Thank you sooooooo much Tel - the power of the 'Net! Never again will I have to remember to de-select that infernal Eco button. The car is now as it was intended to be.

I can turn it off within the software ie by coding but I'm not exactly local to you haha...

There's a forum member in New Jersey who could do it too...

I did this 6 moths ago with no issues.
But I did notice that I can also no longer manually raise and lower the spoiler...
It still comes up and goes down at speed, but the console switch does nothing.

This is not a big deal to me, but I was wondering if others had seen the same...?

It will make it harder to clean underneat, but that's maybe just me that would "worry" about something like that
