Dynamic Mode by itself does NOT turn off Eco in the AT (at least not on my 16 R)

I always get in the car, start it, turn Dynamic ON, then switch Eco OFF.

They're sort of diametrically opposed - ECO is about saving fuel, Dynamic is about burning it.

Sort of.

And yes, they changed it. In my '14, turning Dynamic on turns off ECO. I haven't tried turning ECO on while in dynamic, to see if it's possible.

Selecting Dynamic mode in my '14 most certainly DOES TURN OFF Eco-mode, as does paddle shifting in Sport mode, as well as just plain paddle shifting in regular automatic mode. Perhaps this is an example of creeping toward not having an on-off button at all. The Eco-mode light goes off as soon as I switch it to Dynamic. The light stays on using the other methods, but it never stops the engine.

I've never touch the Eco button when I want to play because one of the methods above makes it go away.

On the MY16, If I hit a paddle, Eco turns off. Selecting Dynamic, or Selecting Dynamic AND Sport (without touching a paddle) leaves Eco ON.

Just another small change I guess.

And I confirmed that while Dynamic mode is on, I can't re-enable ECO. Not that I'd want to.

The manufactures like to claim 5% savings with eco, but I'm sure that was in their lab world.

Currently have my car in for the second time due to car not starting after being shut off by ECO mode. The first time if was hard to remember to attempt to start without putting back into park. Second time, no big deal, but third time in stop and go traffic, would not go into park, then when finally in park, would not start. No happy campers behind me. Finally started and went straight to dealer. Had it for a week, replacing starter, suppose to pick up this afternoon. Hope it fixes issue! Could just turn it off, but as perfectionist, want it fixed!

As for the manual transmission, Eco Mode is sort of irrelevant if you aren't taking your foot off the clutch. And it's acted odd, a bit, too. But I usually forget to turn it off, and when I do take my foot off the clutch at a light, I get confused for a moment. I am also assuming other people are thinking I am stalling my car?

Anyways, your wordplay in this thread reminded me of "Listen... do you smell something?"

If your's is a '14 the separate start-stop battery is probably shot. Against everybody's advice I had it replaced under warranty, works now as new.
