Is the engine cover made of a HDPE plastic? unhingd?

Default Is the engine cover made of a HDPE plastic? unhingd?

Trying to figure out if the OEM engine cover is made of an HDPE plastic, but cant find any sources or info as to if it is or not.

I peeled back the cover insulation as far as I could without tearing it. Lots of number stamps and the leaper, of course. No content letters. Sorry, just don't know. What do you plan on doing with that info?

Im thinking it is. If it is, it will off gas when heated, and peel any coating or paint applied to it.

That cover was hydro dipped. I’m not certain whether it’s been on the car long enough to know how the underlying paint will hold up.

Hadn't investigated hydro-dipping, so that was an interesting video. I hadn't heard about the outgassing issue, so I'm not sure if it would be bad enough forever, or just when the part is relatively new.
