Exhaust Soot
No issue - it's a byproduct of our delightful exhaust tones. Effectively, you're getting small backfires and the soot is the residual. It's gas, not oil. You can coat the tips to slow down the accumulation, but it's pretty easy to just wipe off.
Brake dust is more of a pain, since there are 4 wheels with nooks and crannies. For that, the Porterfield pads are a definite improvement.

It’s a shame because the stock brakes do work very well in my experience. I will definitely have to consider these Porterfield brakes I keep hearing about. My only concern would be their performance relative to the stock setup. I guess I’ll have to weigh things at the time. I hate the dust but I guess it is not the end of the world with a coating.
Yeah, man, these stock pads are pretty shocking in this regard…If I didn’t have a coating on my wheels I can only imagine how annoying it could get. Between the coating and washing my car pretty much weekly through the summer it becomes somewhat manageable, but I’m not a fan…
