I would agree with some of the others on here and although my R hasn't even arrived yet nor have I driven one they are heavy and powerful. I have owned a couple 911's and they handle amazingly. In my running for this car purchase was another 911 S or a Lotus Evora S and then the Jag F Type R. I almost bought another 911 S but the deal didn't work out. I did test drive a Shelby GT500 which made me miss the sound and pull of a V8. So for me I wanted the power and some nimbleness and giving the Jag a shot. For shear handling/power ratio I would go with a Porsche or Lotus. I even considered a Cayman S but just not enough power yet handles amazing.

The issue with 911 is that regular people see you as "another rich *******" and truly rich people see you as a poser, unless you can afford current-model 911 Turbo. More so, my experience with Porsche dealerships is that they view talking to you as inconvenience, immediately assuming you are a tire kicker wasting their time.

When driving F-type, most people don't realize just how expensive it is, but most people appreciate its looks. Of many cars I owned, from subdued to over-the-top, F-type received the most positive attention from the general public.

I've had the opposite in my experience. I had the Jaguar dealer not willing to believe that "a person of color" could afford a F-Type. The blatant racist treatment I received almost had me going the Porsche route. Where as the Porsche sales staff went out of their way to work with me on any vehicle they had on their lot. With that, I don't believe all Jaguar dealers are like that and I'm suggesting that generalizing all dealerships isn't a good thing.

I wouldn't necessarily attribute the Jag dealer's lack of attention to being a person of color...I'm the poster boy for 60ish white haired, tanned and fit WASP. The nose of the Jag saleswoman got real long as she looked down it when she realized I arrived in my Miata. Worst treatment I ever got was from the Hyundai dealers (yes, plural) when I bought my wife's Palisade in April of this year. Do the math...what were car sales like in New York / Connecticut area back then? The stories I have of that ordeal are unbelievable. I honestly don't understand how many of these dealers stay in business.

I am 40 year old overweight white male who recently bought a 2018 F-Type Dynamic R that was a CPO from a Jaguar Dealership in town. I had my 72 year old father who only drives Porsches meet me to test drive and get his opinion of the car. I decided I wanted to buy the car and it reached a point where my dad got up and left and said stop trying to deal with me, deal with him, he is buying the car. It wasn't until they ran my credit score (802) and found out I did IT for the government that they took me seriously. I wouldn't be there if I couldn't afford the ****ing car.
