Default f type converible roof not working

My roof will not open. I press the roof button and the windows lower about an inch then stop. if I repeat the activity the windows lower another inch but the roof will not retract.

There are a couple of bad threads on here of roofs not opening, although I don't think they had the symptom of the window only rolling down a bit. But I think it will have to go to a dealer. You could try the trick of disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds to reboot all the electronics. Also confirm that the battery voltage is OK.

Thanks DJS - I am waiting to see if my warranty covers it then will decide. What I forgot to mention was this has been an intermittent fault for around a year. The roof issue has occurred .....maybe 3 times but has gone away after 1/2 a day but now, unfortunately, it looks permanent. The only good news is that the typical British summer has arrived with little or no opportunity for sun bathing

you can indeed disconnect the battery and "reset the windows" yourself it is relatively simple..... it is all i thought i would need to do......little did i know!
