Default F Type Convertible Driver Side Noise

Hi, wondering if anyone has experienced an intermittent slight squeak in the area where the side window hits the rubber trim by the windshield (top left). The window goes up tight and there seems to be a good seal. And it's weird as I get the squeak on some bumps but not others. Seems to only occur when the top is up but difficult to hear. Maybe I am being overly sensitive. I will ask the dealer to look at it but am always concerned about making a slight problem worse. Thanks.

Haven't experienced that in the F-Type, but have on several other cars. it's caused by the rubber drying out. The very simple fix is to buy a can of silicon spray lubricant, spray a little on a paper towel, and wipe it on the weatherstripping (what you're calling rubber trim) where it meets the windows. That's what the dealer will do, and it will take about 5 minutes or less.

Done, no squeaks.

Thanks so much. I tried this but unfortunately with no success.

I am taking the car back to the dealer tomorrow but am not confident they will be able to solve the noise issue.

I have to say that between this and the back up camera failure I am pretty disappointed with the quality of my first Jaguar. I expected better.

If that didn't work, the noise probably isn't coming from the window seal. The origin of interior noises is always deceptive. It could be the seal between windshield and top. Try lowering the top half-way, and use the silicon on the weather-stripping there before you go to the dealer.

Agree with the above. It's been an issue on many of my cars. One of the culprits is wax build up after washing etc. In addition to the other suggestions, an old BMW owners trick is to use Gummi Pflege on the rubber. Works pretty much every time for me. This particular issue isn't necessarily a quality issue and it's not unique to Jaguar.

On the camera issue, the backup camera on my Range Rover occasionally failed to fire up. The cause was actually a known software glitch, and the issue was rectified with solely a software update and no hardware changes. It's reasonably certain that the systems in Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles are somewhat similar if not identical. Not sure if that was your issue here, but on my RR it was an easy fix and new software solved the problem.

Thank you everyone, they solved the noise issue, which was a loose nut in the convertible top.

The back up camera is still a major problem as I will note in the other thread.
