Default F-Type Coupe track test video

They don't really answer the question but still quite a good video anyway.

For me it is somewhat of a mistake to show the F-type in the same video with the E-type. Makes me wish that Jaguar somehow incorporated that timeless oval intake into the new car. The F-type looks fine, heck, even good but, does not match the soul-stirring looks of the E-type.

Having said that, I am happy to hear that the chassis is truly exceptional. Of course, we have to wait for Randy Pobst to take it around Laguna Seca for some timed laps. If the chassis improvements prove true, and the added 65HP kick-in, it should have absolutely no trouble making up the 1 second deficit of the F-vert behind the Carrera.

Ok, I understand that these days of YouTube video tests the testers feel that they have to make the video, at least, exciting by burning up all that rubber and driving sideways. Driving around smoothly and REALLY fast, would look very boring in a video. An honestly stupid thing to "teach" YouTube viewers. I remember when I started my racing carrier during the early 80s, I was autocrossing my much built Mustang GT. I ran in a class with many other high powered cars. There was this XKE also running, no, not "also run" but, quite often turning in the fast time of the day. Since he and I were competing for the Championship for the year head-to-head, I always paid very close attention to his runs. Most of the time, just watching, I concluded that the driver had to be asleep at the wheel as the car seemed smooth and non-eventful to watch; until he once again would post the top time of the day. Yes, that is how fast driving happens, in near stealth mode, nothing dramatic, just smooth, flowing progress. People in the mega-powered cars, tossing their cars sideways in the tight corners, burning rubber, were incredulous, often voicing suspicion as to whether somehow the Jaguar was cheating by posting faster times that their machines.

Let me call out a predicted Laguna time for the Coupe; 1:37:xx vs. 1:40:xx for the vert. That time should comfortably put the Coupe ahead of the Carrera (1:49:xx). One second+ per lap is significant enough. The Carrera should truly be the target as it is far closer to the price of the Coupe than the Turbo.

If all goes well, my lease on my XJL will expire soon after the Couple becomes available so, if all proves well, I will be in early line for the car.

Wow! That is much earlier than expected.

I am way too early to return the lease just now but, anything can happen as I have not been happy with my XJL's ride. The most reasonable expectation is to wait for the lease to end naturally and by that time the production may be mature enough to iron out those initial production bugs in the car. The key and the temptation will be when I see the Coupe sitting at the dealer, take it for a test drive and they offer me a deal that I would not be able to refuse....?
