Apart from initial start (which you can mitigate to some extent by selecting D immediately), if you drive it below 3000 rpm in D it just purrs. Above about 3500 rpm it starts to snarl ....

+1. Even with more aggressive exhaust systems, it’s easy to maintain calm and tranquility within the neighborhood by remaining judicious with throttle application. Start-up noise can be attenuated by leaving the garage door down until immediately after start-up.

Thanks! That makes sense. I live in a small semi-crowded beach town here on the Jersey Shore (NJ, USA) where traffic moves pretty slow at times. Many of the locals are pretty conservative, so I'm just trying to avoid a situation where the car is asking for additional attention via the exhaust when I'm just trying to run a few quick errands and even *gasp* blend in a bit : ) I had test driven the car a few months ago and honestly can't remember what the noise was like with slower speeds, but I don't recall there being anything very noticeable at low RPMs. It's funny, the 4 cylinder is probably more 'ideal' for my daily driving needs, but the glory of the 6 cylinder is just too good to pass up for those times that call for a little more fun

Every single R owner will claim the V8 sounds better than the V6, but those of us with the V6 know better. Sounds more like a exotic than a muscle car. I’ve never heard an I4 in person, so I have no clue regarding how it compares to the V6.

This is exactly my process in the early morning. Fire up the engine, open the garage door, put the car in D (the F-Type is reversed into the garage). No excessive noise, no complaints.

The boot space is an issue when you try to fit the jetpack in.

I live in a small town and do mostly local driving so I probably don’t -need- the two extra cylinders but boy do I love the sound and exhaust note on that thing, as do many. In any event, do you guys think that the V6 is “too much car” for a daily driver and that I would be better off sticking with the V4 that I have on order? Appreciate your thoughts!
I had the V6 S and I never liked its exhaust sound too bike similar, something like an open exhaust, expecially at 2.500 - 3.000, when you need to over take a slow car, even you dont push hard it sounds too high, but not a good sound, so you have to kick down and push hard always. If you want something special you have to take the V8, in the 2021 version it is extremely quiet, like a luxury car, you can over take in total confort and with a gentile but deep sound. But when you push hard it sounds incredibly good and loud. Give it a try, you will fall in love. The V4 probably is quiter than V6, but not an engine for a F-type in my opinion.
