I am an x351 and x150 owner and am considering adding an F-type
One thing that I really like is my SDD laptop which works great on my 2011 and 2007 model year Jaguars. From what I read, SDD was supported until 2017. However, I am considering a 2017 or 2018 F type. It isn't a huge deal, but it'd be nice if the diagnostic tools that I have will work on a new car too. A family member has a 2017 XE and SDD works perfectly on their car.
Does SDD not work at all on a 2018? What happens if you try, nothing?
Correct - F-Types (and all Jags) from MY18 onwards switched from SDD to Pathfinder, LRs switched either in MY17 or MY18 depending on model. SDD won't work at all on MY18 and above but will continue to work if you get a MY17
If you get the MY18 you'll need the new software. Depending on which DoIP VCI you have though - it may be compatible with both (potentially with a firmware update) - there are VCIs that work with both SDD and Pathfinder although I've heard they're a bit iffy. You're always going to be best off with the legit pathfinder VCI
Yes that IS the problem for sure!!
$1000 just to start. Wow that's a lot. Now they do give you a 1 year dealer subscription so that will make it work for 1 year. Also note that is ONLY for diagnostics and NOT for any programming. So a limited use Pathfinder system. Programming will require a live subscription and connection to JLR servers to work.
I have the complete Pathfinder already loaded (My desktop is exactly as pictured in the ad) and it does operate.
I do have several additional icons I am not sure how to use? Those 3 yellow circle icons.
I can't do anything with Pathfinder because of the subscription problem. I can and do access SDD thru that Pathfinder interface and it still works as does my hacked SDD.
I am still looking for a method to use it without being connected to JLR as that requires a subscription and it time based so you never get it paid off!
Maybe for a commercial shop they could make it pay but for a car owner it's just too expensive to pay everytime you hook the car up.
