Default F-Type P450 fuse F15 removal - Highly Recommend It!

Hey mates,

I just wanted to say that I have a 2023 P450. I removed the f15 fuse and it makes a world of difference. Theres been others of course on this forum who have had a similar experience. So if youre on the fence, I would recommend it 100%. The cold starts are very loud, the normal driving under 3000 rpm is great. Very strong and loud exhaust notes. I never get tired of it. I dont think its as loud as the previous generation F-type R's which were a little obnoxious but thats subjective. So if youre wondering about it or on the fence, definitely do it. If you dont like it, you can always put the fuse back.

Yes indeed, pulling F15 is mod #1 for many of us. Many threads on this.
Mod #2 is plugging a wireless CarPlay dongle into the console storage area.

Mine is a white coupe with red interior. My fav color combo. I think the only other mod im going to do is window tint. I love the idea of the rear window tint matching the black roof.

Its annoying that a car at this price point doesnt have wireless apple car play. So stupid on Jaguars part.

Same reaction when I first did it. Totally different car.

Do your neighbors like those cold starts?

Just a warning from another P450 owner. I removed Fuse 15 when I bought the car 4 years ago. I would diligently replace it every few months or when it was going in for services etc. About 2 years ago it slipped my mind and I just left the fuse out permanently. I'm now dealing with a seized exhaust valve which I can only assume is from lack of any actuation for 2 years. Fortunately the valve is stuck open, not closed. I only discovered the seized valve as I decided to build the "Fuse 15 remote" outlined here. If you're thinking of keeping Fuse 15 out I would recommend replacing it periodically so it can move the valves, or build the remote and enjoy both the loud exhaust as well as the quieter starts.

Thanks. I would prefer it to stay open all the time. The only concern I have is that the dealer does not try and void the warranty because the fuse was removed. Many people put the fuse back in when taking it in for service to avoid this issue. Also do you think putting the fuse back in every 9 months or so will prevent the issue you had?

Hard to say for sure but it's certainly better than nothing, probably depends a lot on if you drive it in the winter and how much salt the roads get where you live. It's not the end of the world for me to have it stuck open but I do want to get it resolved before selling on the car.

The V6 models weren't bad, but I had a 2014 V8S model, the gunshot bangs out of the exhaust annoyed me to the point I eventually sold the car.
It sounded great until those bangs.
Keep in mind, I love LOUD cars, but if I want gunshots I will go to the range.
I wonder if there is a way to tune that out of the older models.

I plan on pulling Fuse 15 on my 2021 F-Type R as soon as it gets delivered this week. Hopefully no gunshot bangs, but on my test drive there were none with the exhaust valves open over 3500rpms.
If there are I could always put the Fuse back in, but then I hate how quiet it is under 3500rpms.

Absolutely you can tune those out, it's just deliberate injection of excess fuel on overrun. Simulates old race cars that did this unintentionally most folks that opt for the V8s love it. Indeed it took me a good while to acclimate to "don't give a crap" status with mine.

Thanks...
My car was under CPO warranty so I couldn't have tuned it out anyway, unless Jaguar was able to do it.
If I ever owned an older one I would definitely tune it out.
I have owned the loudest cars including a straight piped cammed 67 Camaro with Headers, no cats and dual exhaust, it shook my neighbors house when it idled and my ears rang after getting back from a long drive, but it didn't annoy me nearly as much as the gunshot bangs from my V8 Jag. The V6S models sounded amazing.

My Porsche has it only in Sport Mode, but it just sounds like fake mild burbles, in the other modes it is not there.

Default Exhaust valves fully open?

I would like you folks to confirm what’s happening with me when I pull fuse 15. That is when I look up the exhaust pipe with the valve in it I’ve noticed it’s not 100% open but closer to 85%. What I do is reach in with a rod and open it to 100%.
Would some of you guys confirm if your valves are fully open or not as mine is after pulling the fuse?

This is a really GOOD QUESTION.

Keep in mind the later cars have an electrically operated valve and earlier cars rely on vacuum.

It is my understanding that once that fuse is removed, that valve will no longer move, and will be in the position it was in at the time the fuse was pulled.

Hope to see more info on this.

BEST !

Just got my 2023 V8 R last week. I pulled the fuse 15 while it sat in the garage with the engine off and the valves were closed when I parked the car the night before. On startup the valves are open and stay open. Love the sound. No need to do anything like sticking a boom handle into the exhaust. And so far no gun shots on deceleration.

Stays fully open on a V6 2018 MY with Fuse 15 removed. I haven't put it back in for over a year. Love the extra pops and crackles from about 1,800 RPM all the way to redline.

I purchased the AP Velocity Super Sport valveless exhaust a week ago for 2019 F Type R. ETA 4 weeks. Will let everyone know how that sounds. Should be amazing and one of my valves is squeaking on the exhaust anyway.

The late models had their sound neutered somewhat, i'd be surprised if gunshots is even possible.

The are for me when I lift my foot off the gas at around 3300 rpm and the fuse has been pulled (or more accurately, pulled out of the circuit with the mylo).
